Fleeced! How to fix this...?

Clearing the air before I get into this; I DID NOT BUY THIS WATCH FROM THIS SITE! I finally received the 3000 Professional that was excitedly asked questions regarding band sizes. It was sold to under the assumption that all it needed was a battery replacement and the band needed some pins. I got watch removed the back case, and a screw fell out, I reinstalled it. Replaced the battery, watch did not tick. Aside from those two things the crown dial was stiff, and did not "pull out" to adjust date/time. After turning it for a few seconds it appeared as if the adjuster was backing backing out of the casing of the watch. Now there is a gap between the dial and the case. The minute hand sort of loosely spins in the dial too. Also the watch was pretty dirty... What can I do? I paid less than $200 for watch, is it even worth paying to have it fixed?

UPDATE: I've continued to mess with the watch because I can't leave anything broken. I tightened down the back of the case further and it started ticking, or at least the second hand was. The minute hand still still just hands loosely and rattles around in the case. So I guess I've got one less thing to try and workout now...

Yeah, I reckon it’s worth it. Nice watch and I would have thought a straightforward job for a watchmaker.

My only caution is that “needs a battery replaced” is used by some to mean “movement doesn’t work and I don’t know why”!

That's always what I think when I see 'just needs a batter'. A battery is a couple of bucks, you can open the case back with a chisel if you really want to...why not change it if that's all I need.

I would probably get that fixed if you like the watch, new quartz movements are very cheap.

I would contact the seller and ask them to make a partial refund to help towards the repair costs. (Either that or return it for a full refund). It's not as described.

I’d contact the seller and see if you can get anything back. These simple quartz movements can be cheaply serviced, or you can find cheap new old stock replacements (same or newer version) on eBay quite often.

I bought a NOS movement from eBay for about $30-40 I think. Service can be as little as $50-75 for a reputable watchmaker.

So it’s worth saving in my opinion.
