Crown for Heuer 2000 (973.006)

Hello, Bought my Heuer 2000 (973.006) in Sydney in 1985, and it’s been the most brilliant watch.
Around 15 years ago, during service, the crown was replaced with a TAG Heuer version.
Didn’t think too much about it at the time, but is annoying me now.
Have spotted NOS Heuer crowns on eBay, but want make sure I buy the right type (Tag Heuer can’t supply one).
Can anyone help on the spec, diameter, push-in (or not), etc. As well as the best place to buy.

In my opinion, if you are going that route to reverse back to a Heuer Banjo crown, you will run into a much bigger problem, and that will be finding the correct Heuer tube which connects to that dreaded type screw-in crown.
That will be looking for a needle in the haystack.
Best advice I can give is to leave it this way.

I agree, you will most likely end with extra spare parts. Unless you can source the part directly from someone who has the same watch as you.

automobilia42 and huecobros, many thanks for the feedback. So, the only way of putting a Heuer crown on the watch is to revert to the original Banjo type? Is there any chance another model Heuer might have featured a crown that would suit my watch as it stands?
I'll have to double-check, because I haven't worn this watch for a while, but I'm 90 percent sure, even though it features a Tag Heuer branded crown you still have to screw the crown out and in when adjusting time and date. Could that mean the correct Heuer tube is sitting in the background (please forgive my complete lack of technical nous).

Hello again w111james, if your watch has the TAG Heuer screw down crown the crown-tube has been replaced too, on the old Heuer tube the newer screw-in TAG Heuer crown will not fit as it is using a different technique/ system to operate (the old Heuer tube has some kind of teeth on the end, where the TAG Heuer crown doesn't have them, that is how you can spot the difference).
There has been a Heuer crown with a screw in crown (and a very wide tube, dark green coloured) like the newer TAG Heuer-screw in system for a little while, but that crown has no brand marking at all on it, so useless for you.

If you were in Europe, there's a few specialists who 'might' have the parts you need squirreled away but no idea if you are in southern hemisphere.

Here is a picture I just made of the 3 different sorts of crown tubes, on the left, the TAG Heuer screw-in crown-tube, in the middle the Heuer screw-in crown tube with the wide diametre (has the crown with no logo on it), and on the right side the Heuer Banjo crown tube, with the teeth on the end.
