Caz1010 problems

Hi all,

Thank you for allowing me to join this forum, I've been reading it for awhile and have been very impressed by members knowledge for everything tag.
This is my first post on here and sorry it is a little negative.

I have a caz1010 which is my first proper watch and I love it but I've been having a few issues. I purchased the watch at the tag stall at the 2016 goodwood festival of speed.

Around November time I noticed that the chronograph arms didn't line up with top. I waited till after Christmas rush and then posted it back to the uk service centre for it to be corrected. After about 5/6 weeks I got my watch back. No problems and worked great till June and the chronograph arms went out of alignment again. Not sure why as I try to take extreme care of my watch. I'm not able to wear it all the time so when I've got it on it feels really special. I sent it back to tag service centre on the 11th of June and received it back on the 21st of July. While it was there they corrected the movement, performed in their words an extended test for just under 2 weeks and as a form of goodwill gave it a polish. When I got the watch back I gave it a once over and it functioned /looked great. Felt like a brand new watch again.

I wasn't able to wear the watch for over a week due to work etc so last Sunday was the first time I wore the watch since its return when i noticed the watch had stopped on the 27th at 9:15. The chronograph timer worked when i pressed it and reset correctly but the 3 o'clock second dial wasn't moving. I unwound the crown , unclicked then re clicked and wound it back in and the watch started working again and has been ever since.

I contacted Tag uk and they adviced to sent it back again to be checked. This is where I'm not sure on what to do because they seem to take ages to turn the watch around and get it back to me. In the 12 months of my owning the watch it had spent nearly 3 months of them at the service centre. It wasn't until the end of its second visit I was informed by customer service that I could have corrected the problem myself.

So my questions are
Do I send it back again and not have my watch for a month or so ?
Or just keep an eye on my watch to see if it fails again.

Sorry for the long post, I'm just unsure on what to do. I love my watch but just can't face sending it back again for the 3rd time in 13 months. I'll be honest it has given my doubts about purchasing another watch from tag which is a shame as there are some stunning timepieces out there.
Does anyone know if i can contact anyone with TH / lvmh uk regarding my problems? I did ask on the phone but wasn't given an answer.

Many thanks Jon

Do you by any chance have the photo of the misalignment ?

I have the case of misalignment once with my monaco LS. I sent it to service center and 2 weeks later never have any problem since.

Is there any chance you usually place or store it near magnetized places ?

Hi Otto,

I did have some photos of my issues but I have deleted them off my phone.

I store my watch in the box on my bed side table.

Well i cant think of anything that might exposed your watch to magnetism especially you put it inside the box. Unless you put your handphone on top of the box or side to side. But again i dont know if handphone magnetism could be that strong.
To be honest nobody knows for sure. Some production just failed i guess. Its happens in watch. Its also happens in car.
My advice is if it is working fine, then maybe just drop your watch for regular checking whenever you want it or when you need to replace battery. Especially now that you know you can correct it yourself as you mention in your description. (automatic movement usually recommend once every 2 years. Not sure about quartz. I dont own any quartz).
I personally didn't bring my watch for checking once every 2 years if there wasnt any problem.

Hi Jon,

Unscrew your crown. Pull your crown all the way out. Then hold both pushers in for 3 seconds. The chronograph hand will spin. Use the top pusher to straighten up the hand manually. Press the bottom pusher to go to the next counter. Use the top pusher to correct etc. Once finished push the crown in.
This is all in your instruction manual

Cheers

Hi mark,

That's the thing, it's not in my manual. I've read and just reread all the English section and there is no reference to it. On the front of my manual it says quartz watches but inside there is no reference to my f1 only aquaracers. I'm wondering if I've got the wrong manual supplied with mine. My wife has an aquaracer and her manual is exactly the same. I might get in contact with tag again and ask for a correct one

Yes you did get the wrong instructions. It should be for a quartz chronograph. It is not specific to Models (Arquaracer/F1) etc.
If you just follow my instructions you will be fine

Thanks Mark. I'll give them a try the next time it goes out of alignment.

Just to update you all, my watch has stopped again for no reason so it's defiantly going back. Again!! Third time this year.
Also they are sending me the correct manual which if I had this I would never had to send it off as i would have had the instructions to sort it.

Has anyone got the email details for Rob Diver?
