The 997 is the perfect size for a sports car with grand touring capability; the 991/992 are the perfect size for a grand tourer with sports car capability. Depends on what your priorities are. I'd personally be happy with either, though you'd have to worry about IMS bearing service with a 997.1 Carrera / S
IMS is only really an concern with the 2005 997.1 model and the prior 996. From late 2005 and onward, the problematic IMS bearing was replaced with a larger beefier version that's far less prone to failure. A fact backed up by Porsche engine guru Jake Raby, based on his analysis and statistics. Having owned my later model 997.1 for over 12 years, I've watched all the FUD unfold on the internet around this topic and now have absolutely no worries about the IMS in my car. In fact, my 997.1 has been one of my most reliable automobiles, the only problem in 12 years was the water pump.

Ah interesting, I hadn't read too far into it so thought it was all 997.1s. Good to know!

Same with the 987s too I suppose, then

Yes, but I'm not familiar with exactly when the larger IMS was installed on the 987s. Also FYI, Porsche was forced to remedy the IMS situation and the cars affected did not include the 2006-2008 model years. So I wouldn't worry if buying a later model 997.1. Having said that, anything mechanical can fail (knocks on wood).

Otto Fuchs wheels are typically found on vintage air cooled Porches, known as "Fuchs". Both Fuchs & Porsche provide modern day versions of this classic wheel style.

That was my thought, but I generally think of Fuchs as on oil supplier, must have used hundreds if not thousands of gallons in my time, Ta.

Pity there is no manual gearbox option.

I know where you’re coming from sir. Manual transmission really makes it more fun to drive compared to a paddle shift automatic. It was a compromise I guess in making the reborn Supra. I’d still get a GR Supra 3.0L AT than none getting at all. Probably there’s still something more. I’d wait till the last version comes out and we will hope and see 😉

If you expect, you’ll get disappointed.. 🙁
But if you are hopeful, you get surprised! 👍

Porsche 964 Turbo S

This is what I'd call "car pr0n". 😁

This black Porsche Carrera 964 Turbo S reminds me of the “Blackbird” from Wangan Midnight. 😎 I’ve ordered the Wangan Midnight Trio 30th Anniversary from AutoArt 😉 Such a sleek & sexy car 😜

Poster-worthy. One of those photos I could just sit and stare at for hours on end.

For the uninitiated: This is the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans, and this is the winning #23 Porsche 917. Though the John Wyer Gulf 917s were better publicized, this is the car that made Porsche what it is today.

Agree on you sir 👍 The Gulf Porsche 917Ks got the better publicity but the Shell Salzburg Porsche 917K was the “de facto” manufacturer’s team and ultimately won Porsche’s 1st Le Mans Championship in 1970! I have a poster of the #23 Porsche 917K 24H Le Mans Champion to commemorate this monumental event 👍 Also, 23 is my son’s birthdate 😉
