Had a wee look on Chrono 24 and found a few for sale, seem to be 2015/16 and in the region of £3250+, limited edition model but no mention of S McQueen on the ads.

Would you guys prefer it over the blue one? Is it „cool as it can get“ or just quirky?

Notice that it's stamped "tag heuer" rather than "heuer" so it all come back would you rather having the classic steve mcqueen with "heuer" logo in it or this black color edition with "tag heuer" in it.

They also have the blue one with "tag heuer" logo in it.

Personally i don't mind this black color Monaco with "Tag Heuer" logo in it. But if you are asking to choose between the blue "heuer" Steve Mcqueen vs The blue color "tag heuer" monaco, i would choose "heuer" steve mcqueen without any doubt, in a heart beat.

I must point out something in advance though. Steve mcqueen monaco came with "unicorn" crown, for the uninformed, it means that the crown will be on the left side of the watch while the chrono pushers are on the right. Not a design choice for everyone. The blue tag heuer monaco will solve you that option should you need one.

Cheers

The Tag Heuer ones are the Calibre 12, with the crown on the right side.
Available in Blue (the one featuring on the ads) and this black.
A couple of ACM - Automobile Club de Monaco - limited editions were also available.

I‘m fine with the calibre12 and the TAGheuer badge! 😀
Which one would you prefer (given the fact, that both are priced similar)? Which is more disirable?

The blue one is the most referred to, and most common.
The black version is more exclusive.

Apart from the obvious crown placement, i found that the blue calibre 12 monaco is "too shiny" compare the the classic one.

I love the black one though. Probaly having hard time choosing between the blue heuer and the black tag heuer monaco.

Correct. Calibre 12s are TAG Heuer branded.

The ACM editions are the CAW211K, which I own:

and the CAW211M:

The all black is really cool.
It also makes the watch seem a little smaller on the wrist.

What‘s the story about those? They seem to be more common but less desirable, right?

To my eyes, the 3 register Monaco just looks all wrong so I would say less desirable, yes.

I’d agree on that, and somehow the third register changes the complete watch

Now, if they had kept the classic dial layout (instead of the weird-looking radial applied markers)....

The other weird detail about this design is the squaring of the dial in the corners, yet the sides are still curved.
