TAG Heuer has asked that I extend this invitation to Calibre 11 readers- should be an interesting discussion, so hope to see you there, virtually of course

On Saturday, 12 December, Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo will offer a Heuer Monaco worn by Steve McQueen while filming his iconic racing film, Le Mans. As the last of two known Monaco wristwatches kept and gifted by Steve McQueen to be offered publicly, it presents a spectacular opportunity to own one of the most celebrated wristwatches of the 20th century.

REGISTER TO OUR EXCLUSIVE DIGITAL EVENT
With the presence of Paul Boutros (Phillips), Frederic Arnault and Catherine Eberle-Devaux (TAG Heuer), Haig Alltounian, Jean-Claude Biver and Patrick Dempsey, and animated by Michael Clerizo, TAG Heuer & Phillips invite you to an exclusive digital event about this influential watch and unique auction. Event will be accessible with a dedicated link only after RSVP, and will take place on December 8, 2020 at 6H30PM Geneva Time.

Hmm, given that this is 4.30am for me, I'll struggle to make it, but hope that others can 👍

I got an email invite direct from TAG Heuer. Not that I'd be bidding. LOL
Anybody else get the email?

Ah, maybe the 'event' is not the actual auction itself...

I got the invite as well. Unfortunately that's in the middle of a busy work day, with back-to-back meetings for me. But I think this will be a successful auction for them.

It's not the auction anyway, it's a 'round table discussion', as I thought the auction is actually on the 12th.

Yes, this week is the pre-auction discussion. I can see why my comment could have caused confusion. Thanks!

Watched it live. Very poor audio quality delayed the start, worse than some of my work related zoom meetings. But once it got going, found a few things of interest. The most important was that CEO Federic mentioned they are thinking about a modern day version of the original Calibre 11 movement. It sounded similar to what Omega has done with its 321 movement in the new Ed White Speedmaster. That kind of Monaco would really be something to save for, especially if they bring back the mushroom pushers!!!

Noticed that Dempsey was wearing a Monaco Historique. When Catherine asked him to talk about it, he mistakenly referred to it as the one they released at Le Mans last year, which was the Red Monaco 50, not the Historique. Also noticed that Catherine has the same 1/8 scale Steve McQueen figure on her shelf that I have. 😀

I'll add that during the Q&A they were asked if their direction for the Monaco is similar to Omega and its Speedmaster. The response seemed to indicate that they're going their own way and want to keep updating the Monaco. Not quite sure what to make of that.
