Black Steve Mcqueen Monaco...when was it available?

·As someone who owns the calibre 12 blue Monaco (2nd pic), I can say I would rather have the calibre 11 (1st pic). Simply put, I bought from a TAG boutique and they were willing to negotiate for a ~20% discount on the cal 12 and could offer no discount on the cal 11. There are probably 4 obvious aesthetic differences between them. The cal 11 has a matte finish, horizontal indices, a left sided crown, and the lack of TAG in the logo, which is cleaner and probably better. Although don't fall into the 'TAG' hate trap.
Go into a store and look at them and it'll clear up which one you want. I prefer the matte finish but in saying that, the starburst dial on the cal 12 catches angles of light beautifully and is a different watch over day and night. I'm staring at it right now, love it.
Oh, and as far as I'm concerned, the Monaco only comes in blue 😉
I recently saw the Gulf Monaco (3rd pic) in store as well. It is very cool.

·The price of my cal 12 was roughly 68% (with discount) of the cal 11. That's using dollarydoos. They increased the retail price of the cal 12 $250AUD this year but I think the cal 11 stayed the same. The Gulf is same retail as the cal 11.

·Okay, forgive my ignorance. What is the difference between the blue dial Calibre 11 and the 'Steve McQueen' Monaco. Of course they are gone now but last year maybe Watchfinder had about 3 or 4 blue dial Monacos that were selling for £8k apiece, I don't think they were 'vintage' watches, I got the impression they were reasonably recent ...

·Maybe just a matter of time before you succumb. LOL. We seem to have similar tastes. I too keep my Monaco McQueen in the Monaco wooden box from circa 2009-2012ish. These were the best boxes that TAG has ever had IMHO.
I like to believe TH and Heuer fans have the same tastes and likes that’s why we are all here 😁
