After many years on watch forums, I can honestly say I have seen this exact same scenario played out with many different brands, not just Tudor. It's certainly not the usual experience, and very often, as in this case, it's the AD that has made most of the errors, not the manufacturer.
Hang out on any watch forum long enough and you'll hear about problems. No brand is perfect, anything mechanical can break.

Also, people tend to bring up problems most when something is relatively new. I recall being on WUS when the Cal 1887 first came out, lots of discussions on issues then, but you don't hear about it much now.
