I don't think it's any different to when we first saw time-only versions of the Carrera

I disagree. The Autavia case, bezel and hands aren't unique and never were. Very similar designs can be found on tons of other watches, both vintage and new - straight-lug Speedmasters, Daytonas, etc. The Carrera, on the other hand, has those lugs that make it immediately identifiable as such, which is why I don't complain about the three-handers or the models with external bezels.

You might have a better case for the bezel were it a red/blue 1 thru 24 variant like the earlier Autavia GMTs from the late '60s and early '70s, but instead this bezel resembles the one Rolex has been selling for a few years.

Yes, I guess that is the final nail in the coffin for the 1887.

The movement maybe, but there is no reason why the Heuer 01 or 02 cannot be fitted in an actual Carrera case, instead of this mutant tosh.

I am still hopeful that we'll get a Heuer 02 in a classic Carrera case in the near future. Given the 55th Anniversary that was my best bet, but maybe we'll have to wait some more.

Yes, finish it with a Heuer logo in a 3-6-9 configuration and you have a hit!

They could put a Confederate flag logo on it for all I care - that watch with a 3-6-9 layout would be a hit regardless!

That gmt autavia is so horrible I thought it was a photoshop, I cant believe they would release something so ghastly. That could have been retro inspired like the black bay 58, in the same way the carrera gmt in my avatar is.

That thing looks like something I would report to eBay.
