Still really like the Autavia Viceroys.
Me too but I prefer the Horner, definitely would want one if I could afford it

I’m probably having a stroke, but… Which one is the “Horner”? 👎

Being a Mercedes-AMG F1 fan, I prefer to call it the “Dempsey” 😉

It’s the first of the Autavia Heritage models (inspired by the 1963 Heuer Autavia “Rindt”, winner of the Autavia Cup), and the first watch with the Calibre Heuer 02 movement: CBE2110.FC8226

Too big. That 2017 bezel is ridiculous
The bezel and size are not very different from some vintage Autavias... so you don't like the old ones either?

Depending on the light and angle of the picture this bezel could look thicker than it is IRL. In this two pictures it doesn’t look so thick

Since it’s less because of the bezel’s width and more due to the font size, the bezel insert looks much more palatable with the MH-inscription of the Hodinkee Orange or the Jack Heuer 80th…

IMHO, TH should have given owners the possibility to change the insert. I think that might have boasted sales quite a bit.

Tks. First time I heard that nickname.

Nah it’s totally bigger in real life in my opinion.

So I guess you don't like those Autavias from the 60s either, because they are very similar in size and proportions, as you can see in the photos in my previous post.

That bezel is part of their original design (as well as in the original F1s). It is perhaps a differentiating feature with the Carrera. I have gotten used to this feature and I like how they designed it, maybe because I also like the big bezel on the original F1s so popular these days 👍

For having handled the “Viceroy-Horner” (See? I'm learning…) in real life, I can confirm that the bezel dwarfs the dial and destroys the vintage feel (At least for me).

For comparison: This looks already so much more balanced, IMHO, while still using the same base insert:

For further discussion - this was posted by Jeff to OTD and contains all 16 Autavia Cup entrants:
