Did anyone see the final lot, the gold Daytona? €127k!
The most expensive was a Paul Newman Daytona. It went for €676k (premium included).

OK, missed that. Actually, now you mention it, I do vaguely recall threads on other forums saying this Daytona was up for sale.

Well that was certainly a bargain at the time. Expect it to sell for a lot more at auction. It’s not the only specimen though, there’s at least one other orange Autavia in posession of a collector.

I'm sure you guys have seen this, but this is very interesting. To me at least. The orange Autavia especially so as it would be a holy grail (Will NEVER happen). As usual, DC has covered it well here.

....if ever there was an opportunity to own one of your grails, this could be it.....👍

As always, it's not just my grail. And it has caught me at the very worst time! Just realized I forgot to include a pic now.

That Antiquorum website keeps asking me to sign up or log in just too look at the lots, very annoying 😡
The orange Autavia is listed as a 1979 watch with a calibre 11 movement. Very unlikely, no?
I'll wager a bet, 22k for the orangavia

Well these are put-togethers - the dials were test dials that were never installed in a watch by the factory. So it stands to reason the rest of the watch is probably an assembly too, because why swap a dial out from an original watch?

Interesting reminder from Peter Moller (at OTD), whose orange-dial Autavia we featured a while back, that his watch also has a prototype high-beat 28,000bph Calibre 11 movement. Makes is more likely that this was a complete proto watch rather than being only a dial that was retro-fitted to a standard case and movement.

I read that too. You gotta wonder why Heuer would experiment with a relatively high-beat calibre 11 so many years after they evolved to the calibre 12. Couldn't it only mean that this calibre was developed around 1969/1970? The orange dial with the 1-12 subdial is obviously from later, at earlierst around the time the Viceroy and OB were developed, both calibre 12.

Doubtful, as these dials are intended for the same beat rate as the regular Cal 11/12. The high-beat project was also undertaken earlier on in the overall Chronomatic effort, not in 1972 which these watches' serials suggest; the project was also very limited and it's unlikely there were any surviving complete watches.

Somebody paid chf 32.760 for that Monaco at the Phillips auction. Sure it’s nice but is it that nice?
Crazy prices overall at that auction.

CHF24k (US$26) for the Skipper 😲
Ridiculous. Presume there are also auction fees to pay on top of that.
