Good day! I can’t find a thread to bump regarding this topic or particular model. This is a relative old model (more than 10 years) with a unique electro-mechanical movement.

1. What happened to this movement? Not well received? Innate problems & reliability?
2. Do other watchmakers used this movement also?
3. What’s your watch experience with this model and movement? Do you prefer the blue or black dial?

Again thanks to Calibre11 community and appreciate all your inputs 😀

Hi Kappa, the Calibre S movement in general didn't seem to last that long and I really don't know why. Regatta watches in general aren't big sellers, probably because they are quite expensive and really how many people need one? I have a Link Searacer and it's a cool thing to watch it count down ten minutes and then automatically start the chrono... but do I actually have a use for it? No. I like both, but would probably go for the blue one or the 'China Team' Limited Edition.

Thanks for the reply sir rob! I do appreciate it very much. I’m looking for different chronograph movements within the TH range. It’s like the engine of cars. You’re not just particular with the outside design package but also sometimes more importantly what ticks inside 😉 I have 2 quartz chronographs and I do like them alot! This is one movement i’d like to research and try. I just thought there were reliability issues with the calibre S or ownerships issues that’s why they didn’t lasted that long..

Not that I'm aware of... I haven't had any problem with my Calibre S, it's one of my favourite watches.

You can also get the Calibre S in a Carrera, Formula 1, Link and SLR, but sadly not in the Monaco.😜

Could it be that common people found it too complicated and "weird". When watching videos of how to use it I am fascinated but also find it strange

Could be! I just thought it’s just a fascinating movement, all hybrid as electric & mechanical. Anyway, it might not be well received but I’m still fascinated haha 😁 Thanks sir @Jim Dollares 👍

It's actually very simple to use... simply press the crown and everything sets to nought, then operate the chrono in the usual way. And pressing the crown flips between telling the time and chrono (without stopping).

Hi sir Rob! Hope you and your family are doing good! Just want to update you. I heeded your advice and went with the Blue Dial Calibre S 😉 Initially I really wanted to go for the Grey / Anthracite Dial version of this watch. Almost bought from a reseller, just waiting for it to arrive.. but then, due to unforseen circumstances, it didn’t pushed through. And looking back, it turned out for the best 😀 While pondering deeply which dial to go to, it dawned into me, that the Grey Dial doesn’t seem “Regatta”-ish 😕 and blue seems to be more true and appropriate for this watch. I already have a Black dial Aquaracer Calibre 16 and probably it’s time to get a blue dial which I think is more proper for an “Aquaracer Regatta” 😎 It’s good to get different personalities of these watches. The two might be different Aquaracers but both were released around the same time (1st Gen), has the same case, same depth rating and same bracelet 😉

In terms of TAG Heuer watches, inputs from Calibre11 community are truly the best! 👍 Thank you sir!

I think you made an excellent choice, that blue looks lovely and that splash of red really pops!👍
