I'm actually kind of wishing I bought the Alec Monopoly F1 now...😵‍💫
The 3 hander one ? I kinda like it. Because the painting is inside the dial.

Regrets, I've had a few... but then again. If I bought that my funds would be severely depleted and something else (more expensive) would be further away.

Here's a profile that explains how the partnership came to be:
http://www.esquire.com/style/mens-fashion/a14511498/tag-heuer-alec-monopoly/
Kind of how I would have imagined it to happen 😁

King Biver met a random guy at his neighbor's house. "Hey I like your style man, can I sign you as a brand ambassador?" Biver then picks out one of the TH Ambassador standard agreements he always carries in his back pocket. Monopoly signs, Biver transfers 1 million dollars to him and they are all setup for a press release the next day!

$3700 for a quartz watch. You must have to really love Monopoly's work to pay that.

Douchebags buying things just to resell for insane amounts...

Much like what happened with the Hodinkee Skipper. Not that I wanted one, mind you.

Or hate it enough to buy the watch and destroy it 😝

Only thing is, this is not a Carrera Skipper. Not likely to be sold anytime soon.

Wish for SIHH a more reasonable priced Skipper without HODINKEE involvement. Same design, movement and everything, but with a bit larger batch than the 125.

Side question raised by some of the comments...

Imagine I buy a limited edition watch with intentions to wear and enjoy it, but when it arrives, I don't get on with it for whatever reason (maybe it doesn't fit me that well for example). I then see that it's selling at a premium so decide to sell it and end up making a profit. Does that make me a "douchebag"?

In the eyes of everyone seeing your ad yes! Everyone will of course assume you bought it just to make a profit 👍

Hard as it may be to believe.... there must be people out there who never knew about this watch before it sold out. Not everyone follows TAG the way we do, not everyone visits their website. I think this watch would have sold well if it would have been in stores, just because it looks so different. The more I think about it the more I regret not buying it. I think this is going to be very collectible regardless of Alec.

Does it make you a douchebag... well, the problem is, I think that price is ridiculous - it depends what the actual market value is. I recently saw Watchfinder advertising a Speedy Tuesday with a 50% premium. That's pretty douchey if you ask me - but then, they're a business, mostly selling to douchebag cityboys....(no stereotyping here)

If you buy for £1k and the market value is £2.5k, and you sell for £2.3k then you're sound, if you're selling for £4k, you're a douche! I don't think you should feel obligated to sell at the price you paid, especially if the value has gone up. Why shouldn't you profit from it. But here's were the distinction is difficult, between the guy who bought to sell and the guy who bought to own but wants to sell. I guess the problem here is that we don't know what the market value is, do we?

Then again, if I'd bought for £1k and saw them selling for £3k, would I sell? Probably. Because easy money doesn't come easy and I could use that money to buy a Grand Carrera!

Haha, yes, but I wouldn't pay more than retail for it... and I think that chance has gone. When you consider Richard Mille sold 30 x Alain Prost watches at $815,000 a piece in an afternoon it should have been clear that 200 unique art watches like that wouldn't last long. In fact, I'd say they went quite slowly really... I hope TAG will make more unusual limited editions like that in the future. Maybe they could do one with just the TAG logo in spray paint, that might be cool?

Oops. Wrong guess.
Prices paid on ebay in the last weeks are between $2k to $4k.

I like Monopolys work. I always loved comix and Art.
If it will last or just be a hype nobody can tell.
He has 600k followers on instagram right now.
Alec Monopoly will do some more artwork for Tag Heuer I guess.

I wouldn't be so hard on this. That's what investment is all about, isn't it?

And doesn't it hint on the importance and potential of Monopolys work?
That's the kind of questions Alec Monopolys art might be about...?

If Salvador Dali was alive today, I wonder how many Instagram followers he'd have?

Of course the ancestral target group of Heuer are Racing Fans. But to enlarge the Brand From this to other sports to all Kind of people who are exploring boundaries under extreme conditions is a natural development of the brand, which nonetheless abides by the original spirit.
By equipping Artists with Heuer-Watches, the brand continues the ageold strategy of Jack Heuer, who equipped the F1-drivers with them in the 70s. That's social synergy.
