Advice on an Automatic watch problem

I am wondering if there is someone who would have any idea of what the cause could be for an Auto watch to stop after taking off the wrist for a couple of hours. It runs on the wrist OK but within a couple of hours of taking it off it stops.
It is a potential purchase of a Vintage Heuer by me, I dont have the watch to test so and I am not sure if the watch is manually wound, it still happens.

Just looking for a little advice if anyone has experienced this issue and what it could be.

Thanks

There are any number of reasons this may occur, but it'd only be a real issue if you planned on wearing it every day instead of in a rotation

I had that issue with a Calibre 11 I bought and the problem turned out to be a missing wheel inside! But the watchmaker I use says there are lots of other reasons, rotor touching the case, broken pivots and more. The good news is that if you are looking at a Cal 11/11i/12/14 or 15 parts are available to watchmakers with the right connections.

Something rattling about inside that is blocking/interfering with the mechanism?
I have a Calibre 6 that has twice ‘randomly’ stopped due to a mechanism support screw untorqueing itself and rattling around inside..... twice to TAG and twice the problem. Never again since I over torqued the screw myself.

Thanks Gents for the advice.
If I manage to get the watch I’ll get it serviced.
It’s in need of a little tender care it seems anyway.

Factor in to your bid or offer that automatic chronos cost about 25% more for a service than plain ole hand-wound, and one with known problems another 25% on top. I am still happy with my "problem child" though, just waiting for the date to come to where I don't have to wind its non-quickset date wheel around too much.

What connections are those? Here in the US there's maybe 1 guy who seems to be able to replace parts on a Chronomatic movement, and it's a really long wait...

I don't know, but Rich Askham in the UK certainly does. He found parts from Italy for my Hamilton Chrono-matic in a few days. Price was bearable too.
