The Hodinkee gang discuss TAG Heuer's releases at 23m14secs, with more insight on the rationale behind the Monaco split seconds. I thought it was quite interesting.

As a side note, they expect all 40 to be sold, just as TAG Heuer found buyers for the Plasma Carrera (which always gets lots of shade thrown at it here).

Edge Magazine article on the Monaco Rattrapante:
Splitting seconds | TAG Heuer Official Magazine

I was happy and relieved to see that TAG Heuer did not forget about their own history, highlighting their split-seconds S/EL. 😀

Moving on to 1989, when TAG Heuer unveiled a quartz split-seconds chronograph wristwatch. It became immensely popular throughout the ‘90s, especially among racing legends like Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, and Gerhard Berger.

Do we know which watches use this movement? I can't find anything to compare...
I haven't done comprehensive research, but the RM 65-01 and Parmigiani Fleurier are two examples.

Sorry, guys . . . I'm just not into the flame wars on the forums or responding to the keyboard cowboys . . . so keep swinging and I'll be the virtual punching bag, if that makes you happy. This is a hobby; it's supposed to be fun; for me, that's in the research and writing, the enjoyment of the watches, collaborations with watch friends, the spirit of the community, etc., but not the forum debates.

Jeff arrives, gets everyone's back up and then says I'm not into 'flame wars'.
Excellent.
I thought my response was pretty civil and I tried to explain why people were a bit irritated generally, but whatever... you clearly don't value anyone's opinion but your own.

Regarding the discussion of the column wheels versus the cams (economy rattrapantes), you may find it interesting to visit a Breitling retailer, try out their $11,000 Duograph, and see how it performs. This will also explain why these watches are selling for $5500 on eBay. It's a really lousy watch.

I am confused @Jeff Stein, if you’re not into forums and “flame wars” then why did you post in a forum and then create a “flame war” with your subsequent response.

Mods, this is clearly now off topic. Could you please create a separate thread for discussion around Jeff’s blog and keep this thread for actual discussion around the watch, albeit including nicknames, etc. as that actually relates to the subject rather than discussion about said blog post.

That's how it’s generally done with other blogs on this forum, so would be a standard approach for all.

In that video Julien mentioned there would be some big things coming this year, some special references of a particular model line. Since it's the 20th anniversary of the Aquaracer clearly that must be what he's talking about right?

For anyone wondering, yes that was a joke. Sorry I know we're supposed to be serious here, but I can't help myself, it's an affliction that I'm working on with my therapist.

Overall, I think the Council's scores generally reflect the level of enthusiasm we all felt for this year's W&W offerings, with the average score over the 8 models released coming out at a pretty miserable 5.0/10. Okay, the three 'ladies' Carreras dragged it down a little, but actually less than the two hyper Monacos.

And I'm not even joking.

Most bizarrely of all, the two Cal16 F1s are the highest scoring watches released this week, and I'm not including them in the W&W releases... maybe they should have been?

I'm curious if that'd change if the copper dial was considered separately from the diamond / mother of pearl yawn-fests.

Am I alone in thinking that one actually seems good for what it is or is it the Church of Silver Dial Anti-Christ?
