I didn't get the opportunity to fit the strap on my wrist, but did see the watch and hold it on my wrist . . . there is something magical about it . . . not really a skeleton dial, but no dial at all . . . the two registers are supported by the "arches" and so you are seeing the back of the movement, jewels, etc. I took some fun photos of the "dial" . . . basically, a square piece of sapphire that has a big circle cut out of the center, with the hash-marks and lume sitting on the edge.

Yes, something magical about it . . . both views (front and back) are very dramatic!!

Would love to see more pics.

Better live close up photos may help us to truly appreciate it.

I mean when I see pics like this, I'm honestly drawn more to the Team Ikuzawa Carrera. But that's just me.

I am confused @Jeff Stein, if you’re not into forums and “flame wars” then why did you post in a forum and then create a “flame war” with your subsequent response.

Mods, this is clearly now off topic. Could you please create a separate thread for discussion around Jeff’s blog and keep this thread for actual discussion around the watch, albeit including nicknames, etc. as that actually relates to the subject rather than discussion about said blog post.

That's how it’s generally done with other blogs on this forum, so would be a standard approach for all.
The discussion seems to have resolved itself. As others have said, in this forum we respect freedom of speech and freedom of expression. We do not want to censor anyone or put people on notice, unless absolutely necessary.

We believe discussions should be open and if people say something provocative, controversial, or bordering in inappropriate, then the community will quickly self-regulate.

We all want to be here and make the best out this communal experience. We encourage each other to be civil, courteous and helpful. Let's all do our part to keep this place enjoyable and fun for everyone. Thanks!

I can't help feeling perhaps TAG are trying to jump too high too quickly. While it is admirable to make haute horlogerie pieces again, and dmittedly something I have been saying the brand should revisit, it seems more likely to open them to ridicule from the wider watch community. Say Omega made a 120 grand split seconds, there wouldn't be any question of it being overpriced or a joke. People would immediately understand that this must be something special and the press would be foaming themselves into a lather over it. That's TAG'S real problem, right there. The brand is already perceived as reaching with a £10k Monaco, this is just too high too quick, and as I said before if this was something genuinely new (like the V4 or Mikropendulum) where people can't draw comparisons with cheaper versions then that could be a different story...

Well, Omega does have this 450k chrono chime:

I think the T&T video gives the best live video shots of the Monaco Rattrapante. I've watched it a few times just to let it all sink in and internalize this watch from various angles.

It's starting to grow on me. I'm sure if I saw it live, I'd probably be impressed. Last year, I wasn't sure what to make of the Carbon Monza. But when I finally saw it in person, I really liked it, a lot! Much to my surprise, as skeletons aren't my cup of tea.

But I think as a "halo" product, epic as it might be, the new Monaco still misses the mark for me. It's not because of the price. There are supercars that I know I'll never afford, but I lust after them nevertheless. I just don't get that same lust factor with this Monaco, I'm sorry to say. Past high-end haute horology halo offerings (e.g. Monaco V4, Mikrotourbillon S etc.) failed to excite me as well.

I'd be more excited to see this Rattrapante movement in a vintage style Monaco case, with classic round pushers, and the heritage 1133b face. But combined with the avant-garde crystal case back of this new watch to show off the movement. The 2019 Monaco Piece d'Art comes to my mind. It would be a kind of a restomod version of that watch, armed with this avant-garde movement as its engine instead of the Cal11.

But seriously, a bonkers price - but it still doesn't feel like people would make YouTube videos pointing and laughing.

I notice the new INDY 500 still has the 'heritage' aluminium bezel, a nice touch...

Fantastic example!! Omega's Chime Chrono might be the ultimate example of a Halo watch . . . They took two complications that were deep in their heritage -- repeaters and split-second chronographs -- and combined them to create a unique watch, a chronograph that chimes the results of the chronograph rather than the time of day. Of course, it's entirely useless to most watch enthusiasts and also entirely unattainable, but it got tons of press, so I suppose that it was mission accomplished for Omega.

And you can buy more ordinary Speedmasters starting at around $5,000 for a new one or $2,500 for a pre-owned model. Perhaps the higher this ratio, the more powerful the halo!!

Sometimes the brands like to make these crazy complications just to show the world that they can!!

With all this Rose Gold going around, feels like the Monaco should be next!

Skipper looks really good on the wrist! Much more discreet than the renders suggested, very elegant.
