Is it possible this whole "Kith Heuer" logo thing is just marketing nonsense, and they haven't really changed the logos on the actual watches? Otherwise,
I hear that all the time in real life. ;( This time I was serious. I try not to be sarcastic but focus more on "wink wink" humor most of the time. This is the best forum ever with a great cast of characters so I try to be light hearted as much as I can. ***** Serious time: I think this is Tag Heuer's attempt to revive the classic "starter watch" by re-introducing it to a new generation, utilizing its ultra-80s-to-90s style that was out of favor probably a few years back but has become cool again to a certain demo these past few years. KITH is their vehicle this time. Lots on social media about how it was Ronnie Fieg's personal starter watch. It's all storytelling. Someone born in 2000 probably loves Ronnie Fieg like I love Jack Heuer. It'll be a fun release for many and get lots of attention in the media-sphere for sure and get tons of reposts and a bunch of articles written up in Hodinkee, GQ, Uncrate, etc etc. about how fun and cool TH has become with this release. Wink wink time: Target demo are probably the young peeps in their 20s that wear baggy sweats and old man tennis shoes and all look like they read Chapter 7 of the hypebeast bible (Chapter 7: How to Dress Like Old Men Going to the Gym from 1989 - 1995). I don't actually know if they'll buy one. But I'm sure they'll talk about how cool and fun it is.
Thanks @Ara, I guess my real question is whether KITH is actually that well known in younger demo to be that influential. I'm just not the right demo to know. My kids don't know of KITH, but they don't dress like your "wink wink" crowd, so I guess they're not the demo either. This could be either a brilliant move by TH or one of their biggest blunders.
My friend Rich is slightly younger than me and he knows Kith because he is into trainers. Personally I never heard of him. If these are 35mm though I wonder will young people actually wear them? Isn't the whole thing with the F1s being 43mm because the common belief is that 'young people' want their watches to be big and loud. It's generally the older people, I mean my age, who are mostly the ones who want discrete sub 40mm watches.
Coming from someone who spent the last week convincing me why I cant buy a small watch "even my fiance thinks it is too small bro"
And yet, shop windows are full of not very small watches... sounds like that vocal minority talking again
I'm only winding you up. I think these days, the trend is that people just go with whatever feels good to them, right?
I can't believe no one has mentioned my fabulous new avatar this morning. Or maybe you can still see the cat?
They are?? I've never heard of it. It sounds and looks like a US specific hipster/fashionista brand selling very cheap (slave-labour?) made in China products to Instagram wannabes to me.
Yes that's what I thought, but I didn't want people to know I wasn't cool/hip/dope/fly/whatever word kids are using these days...
