They sure had the same shitstorm when they introduced the TAG logo back in the days. From a psychological standpoint it seems like the concept of complusive repetition is not only an individual phenomenon but also applicable on institutional levels.
The only kids who could afford that stuff are trust-fund tik-tokkers.... (unless inflation in the US is running at Italianate levels... )
Well, for what it's worth, my kids haven't heard of Kith either, and they're both in that "prime" age range. It's beginning to look like Kith is going to get a helluva lot more out of this marketing/branding agreement than TH will.
I think they're in Brooklyn, so I can't speak for the rest of the five boroughs but here in Queens I don't think it'd mean much FWIW, I think they've been marketing to older guys like gen Xers lately. So maybe that's what's going on here
Kith is kind of like Supreme, but Kith is not a skate brand. It's smaller and established a reputation for more off-kilter fashion capsules and collaborations in the mid 20-teens, working with companies like Bergdorf Goodman, Coca-Cola, or Cheerios. Ronnie Fieg is largely responsible for resurrecting the Asics Gel Lyte sneaker line, for example, as opposed to doing something with Nike or adidas. I have bought several Kith collaborations in the past and they have all been great and very high quality. Kith has great customer service and is very popular in New York but that popularity doesn't really extend too far outside of the East Coast. Once you get out of the East Coast its not a big deal
Not sure if people outside the forum will get the joke. It's not pronounced "Keith". It's more like how someone would say "Kiss" with a lisp. Hence the Mike Tyson kiss meme.
I've read elsewhere that the models sold exclusively by KITH will be named after cities. So collectors may want to get all the "cities". I believe most will only be sold via KITH, only a few by TH Boutiques. Ten different versions, 3 that look like the old steel ones on jubilee bracelet, 7 that look like the plastic ones with plastic strap. Don't know if the plastic looking ones are really plastic or some other material.
I know, right?! They're not even the cities where the F1 races take place, except for one. Furthermore, KITH has no connection to Formula1 either. At least in TAG's case they were involved with the McLaren team and the TAG Turbo Porsche engines. While it might've been controversial for TAG to slap their name on top of Heuer, at least it made sense for the Formula1 watch.
