The coolest part of this watch is the 20 seconds sprint feature. That takes some sort of work on the movement. Being able to catch up over the remaining minite is amazing.

But how many people will actually need/use it? Digital timers can run several events at the same time, motor racing uses transponders and times to the thousand of a second accurately without having to hope their triggering the function at the same time every lap.

Yes, but luxury watches are about 'dreams' and 'feelings' not reality.

If they give up on all this pointless stuff what will they have left? No wonder they need to perpetuate the vintage aesthetic.

the 2023 steel Carrera just looks dull with the grey strap and subdues the red accents. It might be good in real life, but a bit monotonous from the render.

I'm waiting for the official explanation on how the sprint timing works. I don't understand it, but it does look cool.

I timed it against my normal chrono. The chrono hand speeds up in the section that normally would be in the area from 0 to 20secs, but the markings on the bezel go from 0 to 9 in that area. So instead of timing 20 seconds, it's timing a different increment. Perhaps 10 secs at double speed? Then after that, the chrono hand slows down to match a normal 60 second timer. What practical use this has in the real world or a race wasn't obvious to me.

The servants in the boutique could not explain this? Also curious to know, I have no idea

Nope, they hadn't been briefed on the watch yet.

This is how I would feel if I wore a Porsche watch

I really like the Carrera Porsche Orange Racing…but I could never buy it for exactly that reason, not being lucky enough to drive a Porsche.

The first part of the timing goes for 9.11sec.to reflect the 911. That's what I was told. Will get some more info tonight at the event.

So is this being released tonight so we can see what it looks like or is it another secret rendezvous? 😀

Porsche is an aspirational brand. Getting a TH Porsche Carrera watch (or a PD watch) would probably lead you to aspire for the car. Whether a 2 door sports car, an SUV or an EV of their offering 😉

I have a PD watch -and looking at another- would have a Porsche but the boss doesn’t see the need, why spend a lot of cash to get another two seat ragtop when we already have a competent car? I asked why she has more than 1handbag then? And regretted it instantly.
