Wuut, so the new movement is not a new movement? It is just a rebranded H02? Are you sure about this?
From what I'm told yes.
But don't hold me to it.
They might be renaming the H02, but from the look on Frederic's face and from Wei Koh's description of the the new chronograph (from about 8min 35 sec into the video) they've definitely got something else cooking too that must be all new.

Is it a Monaco if its not a square!?!?!?
I have no doubt it will be square, but a new design. Sort of like how the Monaco 24 back in 2009 was meant to evolve the heritage Monaco into the future.

He definitely looks like he can’t wait for this to be out there. Proper excited like it genuinely is something new. Hope it’s not underwhelming.

Just saw the video. The whole new Monaco (movement, material, design, shape) seems to be the Only Watch for this year. Maybe they'll slowly roll-out different aspects of it to regular models

And here I was, all excited that they were phasing out the H02 🙄

This movement they mention is different, maybe built on the H02. But the 'renamed' H02 will be called something like TH30, and will have other improvements made. Specifically to the rotor I hear

Yeah sorry I wasn't commenting on the video, just Anthony's post on the renaming. I thought TH30 was a brand new third party movement.

Calibre 1969 - CH80 - Heuer 02 - XXXX

This TAG Heuer in-house movement certainly had alot of renaming in its course & history 😲 The marketing guys surely are quite very busy 🙄

Ah yes, I assume the new future Monaco will also be well above 10k to make it more of a luxury watch?

Yup, similar to how the Only Watch Monaco's design DNA is rolling out into more Monaco production models.

Frederic is really proud of that Monza. Love it or hate it, gotta give the guy credit for doing new interesting things.

Best part is when he says they wanted to do something long term, that is heere to stay.

By making a 250 pcs limited edition? 🙄

And more Monaco skeletons of the same breed coming this year apparently...

More skeletons, but not the same...

LVMH already has an entire watch brand (Hublot) doing nothing but that. What's the point of repeating a similar approach with a mid-tier brand catering to a completely different audience?

I'll chime in with a focus on the Monza discussion in the video. I only watched it once, but I thought I heard FA make a comment that they just did not want to do a Monza in steel, etc. I get it, but if they had made a new steel model (42 mm like the 40th), I would have been interested (regardless of whether it was badged as Heuer or TAG Heuer).

On the other hand, the very well-liked 40th Monza wound up in the outlets (I would assume mainly due to the volume made), so what do I know. 😁
