Yes my guess is that most TAG Heuer, Rolexes etc are sold to people who care nothing about watches like we do, they just want a nicely made status symbol
And a lot of the time those people buy Apple watches instead. Talking to a colleague from London, apparently it’s now common to wear trainers with a suit, as a way of distinguishing yourself. My theory is people used to do this with watches, but now everyone wears Apple they had to find something else.
I got chatting to the manager of a large AD recently - he told me that they had had a massive upswing in sales of the three-hand Carrera purely down to the Gray Man/Ryan Gosling ads. That and the F1 range are now some of the best selling watches of any brand in that particular store.
I'm still shocked that Charlie owned and loved the 'Scream' Formula 1. It just goes to show that Mr Biver was right all along (as if we should ever doubt it) that you grab the customer at the entry level by giving them what they want in that moment and 'manipulate' him up the ladder til he's buying £6000 Carreras.
Had some fun earlier imagining what a “new”, more upmarket Formula One might look like. I always thought it was a great shame the case, bezel and bracelet from the Fragment F1 have not yet been reused in a new model. I’m imagining these have a quartz movement, multiple fun colour schemes and a ceramic bezel.
Top 2 are very nice, but you just created a £2500 quartz and people will say Endurance Pro has a better movement.
Like the Autavia handset you've used. Everything else looks a bit like I've seen it before tbh. I would also like to see some contrasting subdials.
