In my humble opinion, it鈥檚 still a masterpiece that needs to be seen in the metal to be appreciated.

One comment out of 12 pages isn't "people loved it", it's one person who liked the red glass.

That was the point. The case back didn't make or break the Fragment model. There's so much going on with the watch itself, that even if one didn't care for the red glass, it was hardly worth talking about.

I'll add that in the case of the Fragment, I feel the red glass on the back works better. On this Japan Edition watch, it just makes it more gaudy looking IMO.

While I still don't care for it on the Fragment, I think it works better because the Fragment has more flashes of red on the dial compared to this watch, plus the Fragment's front dial is quite understated. The red glass on the back makes the movement less visible, making it understated in a way. So what you basically see at a quick glance is just a circle of black on the front (with touches of red) and a circle of red on the back. A kind of black & red symmetry, front to back.

Here it doesn't add anything, just detracts - IMHO. And yes I like the Fragment more than this watch, but that has more to do with the front looks, not the back.
