I've not heard many complaints about the Monaco's clasp being uncomfortable. I don't have any issues with mine. Do you have other Monacos to compare? You could try strapping the watch to something cylindrical overnight to break in the strap. Also, make sure the clamping side of the clasp is pressed all the way down on the strap.

Saw this pic and couldn't help think that the color would go very well with this watch.

Unfortunately I don’t - aside from the one in the AD which I tried on the other day which felt good.

it’s the clamping side of the clasp that I think is one of the issues. It’s fully down, but the edge of it is like a razor blade and seems to be nipping me when the clasp is closed to the wrist and in normal movement. Below shows the red marks an hour after taking off.

I might take it past my AD tomorrow and compare to one they have in the window. Maybe it’s just me...

Steve, it’s not just you mate - I have the same problem with the Monaco straps. I have a small wrist and for me the leather straps don’t bend enough to conform properly, they bulge at the sides, and the clasp is painful. It also tends to want to sit off centre on my wrist as well.

You have a couple of options. 1. A friend of mine suggested wearing the watch in a warm shower and trying loosen the leather bands that way. Too much water is not great for leather watch bands but you could give it a shot. 2. Look up a company called Visconti Milano - they do amazing custom watch bands. 3. Put a nato strap on it. That’s what I have done with mine and it makes the fit so much better and comfortable for me. You can also experiment with throwing some colour on the band too. I use the omega 21/22mm nato straps - they have a wide selection and they’re excellent quality. I didn’t want to swing my Monaco’s off a 40 dollar online strap. Good luck mate. Don’t give up on her yet!

It really looks in the some of the photos as though you have the strap done up really tightly, almost too tightly. Have you tried slackening it off a bit?

I find the TAG Heuer clasps to be extremely comfortable to wear and I have a fairly small wrist.

Agree, it does look like @stevec14 has it on very tight in some of his pics.

I always leave a little slack, because my wrist will get larger during the day under warmer conditions, and then it becomes too tight if I don't have the slack.

Just looking at mine at I can just squeeze my little finger under the strap at the mo, this will get less of a gap the day goes on, my Mont Blanc gets the strap fixed in one of two holes dependent of temp/fit on my wrist.

Thanks guys - it actually wasn’t that tight - it’s just the weight of the watch when I tilt my wrist pushing the strap in I think. I could loosen it a little but then the watch will flop about - it’s quite heavy and the H02 has a mm or so extra thickness.

I think the answer is that the strap needs to break in - I’ve always been a calfskin person as opposed to alligator/croc as they always seem a little more supple.

@Tavknack i actually have 2 omega 21/22 NATO’s. My only concern is the extra 2mm thickness that would cause, but I might just try it.

perseverance will be the answer I think. It’s a much bigger beast than I am used to.

what’s the thickness diff to the calibre 11/12?

I think I may have solved it. I had left the stickers on the clasp in case I wanted to send back (which I can’t really having worn/ adjusted a few times).

they are thin but quite sharp plastic. Having taken off the underside of the clasp, it was the edge of the plastic which was providing much of the sharpness. Now that’s off, much better. I’ve also loosened a smidge. It does move a bit, but that’s to be expected.

so sorted! Sorry for the Newb moans! The heft will take a little getting used to, but I like the chunky aesthetic in comparison to my Ed white daily wear. It certainly lets you know you are wearing it!

Looking forward to tuning into the F1 with my new acquisition on!

I was going to ask if you took all the protective plastic off the clasp, but thought that would be like asking if a non-working appliance is plugged in. LOL

Actually, when the plastic was clear, I missed some on one of my clasps in the past, which caused my clasp not to close well. But now I believe they use blue plastic on all new watches, so it's easy to spot.

Anyway, glad you solved it!

Cheers  I absolutely knew it was there, but didn’t realise it would make that much different in comfort. Anyway, all good now and enjoying it a lot

This is basically a repost, but Mspeedster is correct...received my Monaco LE box today and exactly as he posted.

Wish they had a Heuer-branded version of this for the Calibre 11 models - like the originals.
