A good daily beater isn't pvd on steel...

Yeah I figured it out that the PVD coat will not look good after constant use and exposure. But isn’t it part of the charm of these watches? 😉

I just think the “king” in TAG Heuer’s line up for a daily beater is truly the Aquaracer 👍

My daily beater AR agrees 😉 arguably a daily beater should be a quartz, or a anti-mag, anti-vibration automatic, but my calibre 5 has taken a lot of abuse over the last couple of years

Has anyone got the thickness and L2L of this? Thanks.

I don't have actual measurements but it's fairly slim on the wrist. I'd guess not much more than 12.5mm. L2L is about average too. I'll take a look with my caliper when I get home later today

So many divers are retro-inspired at the moment it is refreshing to see a design that isnt a throwback to the 60s or 70s. That combination of white and black indices is something I've never seen before!

This one is retro-inspired, just a throwback to an ‘80s model instead of 60s or 70s 😉

Looks like my guess was correct - at least for the titanium 844 edition, the thickness is 12.5mm with a lug-to-lug of 49.8mm. Given the 43mm case width it ends up wearing pretty slim on the wrist for a diver.

That many 60s/70s watches around I don't count a throwback to the 80s as retro-inspired! Design is still great I don't think anyone would look at it and say 'that's a retro design' unless you know the history of that specific model

Yeah, the only thing retro about it is the lume dial with the black 'roundish' hour markers. It's a leap to say the least.

Throwback or not (I'd say that like the 844 edition, it's just got throwback touches rather than being an entire model) it's pretty cool. Worth checking out in person IMO

@Aquagraph Hodinky says that "The solid (yes!), engraved caseback is screwed in"

Different case design compared to non black Aquaracers? Or typo maybe, what say you master of Aquaracer casebacks?

Well it has no lugs so I would say they are talking sh*t and it is the same case as the other Aquaracers.

Ah well they might be talking shit but they do excellent photography. My favourite probably this one showing a cool half glowing dial, partially hit by light

Honestly, who was the TAG Heuer genius that decided to put a lumed biizel on the 844 but not on the Night diver 🤦

Really? That pic looks damned odd to me. Especially as it appears to be balancing on the crown...

That was my favorite photo from their article.
