Great interview and highlighted some of the points I previously mentioned 😉

Nice to see Nicholas as new TAG Heuer Heritage Director talking about these new Aquaracer line-up. In a historical perspective, indeed the Aquaracer is the “bridge” from Heuer to TAG Heuer and probably embodies what TAG Heuer is all about 😀
Accessible, reliable & avant-garde.👍

Leaves me with this question, will TAG Heuer still pursue an Aquaracer Chronograph? 😗

I think this is a much better homage to the 844 than the new one (thanks to @maiden for posting the photo, this is the one I was thinking of but couldn't find): 083e7e9d-5254-4fee-bc96-3ee554cb249b-jpeg.1200398

Hmm I feel like a stick in the mud! I just can't get over the octagonal indices. I'd much prefer round indices. I get that they want to create a unique AR design, but there's just too many sharp angles on the watch for me. I also prefer a lume pip. I hope the bezel markings have lume on all of the versions. Also, I see that the watch resembles the 1000 series, whereas previous versions resembled the 2000 series. I'm still on the fence about that one...

...and I prefer a 41mm size over the 43mm.

Yeah, they keep talking about how the Aquaracer sprang from 1000, but it really came from the 2000

I suppose all THs dive watches came from the Monnin/1000. That was a purist line heavily inspired by the sub. The 2000 is a lot more quirky and unique with those grippy bezel things that continued in some way in every AR generation until now. I’ve been starting to appreciate these. The 2000 iterations seem limitless and then there’s the 1500, 3000,.... rabbit holes.
I find it remarkable that those typical 90s TAG Heuer divers originated under Jack Heuers reign in the early 80s. The first releases under TAG ownership were mostly logo changes and small facelifts. The dodecahedron bezel was a facelift of the 2000 in the mid ‘90s. That feature’s still there obviously. I’ll probably go after that one next.

^weren't the bezel grippy things introduced at Aquaracer stage? My 2000 is one of the last and doesn’t have them?

The classic 2000 was available with and without the six grip points on the bezel. As the watch evolved into the AR series, the grip points remained. The grip points remained on the surface of stainless steel bezels, while they became less prominent on bezels with aluminum or ceramic inserts.

@Yago - the dodecahedron bezel facelift in the mid 90's - are you talking about this bezel? I've still got the original "round" bezel. When I requested a new bezel from TAG Heuer CS, they provided the angled bezel below. I do prefer this bezel over the round one.

Yes this is the updated 'AR' bezel of the WR series that replaced the round bezel.

Actually, it's not that it 'really' came from the 2000, it categorically did come from the 2000. It started life as the 2000 'Aquaracer'! And the leftover stock of 2000s and 2000 Exclusives were sold as 'Aquaracers'.

That looks SO much better than the round bezel.

This man (Guy Bove) knows what he's talking about. Very interesting talk and knowledge about the more subtle changes and adjustments.

Re: the LE I like the printed aspects of the dial, and the hands are better than the original 844 IMO, but that magnifying glass just sticks out too much for me.
