My Hodinkee Dato came in that small black box you can hardly see in your photos. And with a sleeve around it 🤔

Seems reasonable. 😁

I ordered some 22mm rubber strap retainers for this one, steel things are ugly and sharp! Not impressed. Otherwise, great...

Hahaha, maybe! I like it, but then I think the world is already f**ked and no amount of deckchair twiddling is going to save it....

What size is the Strap Rob?

22mm, I thought it was 20mm but I tried to 'borrow' the rubber retainers from my Senna F1 and found they were too small...

Awesome...I've got a handful of 22mm straps that might go ok with this.

I was thinking one of those Isofrane things?

I was thinking the Orange Rubber from the Connected Gen 3. I will test it out once this watch finally arrives.

Seems a bit odd in this day and age to go this crazy on 'packaging'... I can't help feeling they are asking for a fight with someone.
Need to go a long way to compete with Amazon, I have at times thought they’ve sent me an box full of paper and plastic stuffing only to find the item hiding in the corner of a box 20/30/40 times the size required, which I need to dispose of.:whipped:

I am trying to ascertain if in fact this watch is limited to 4000 pieces, I think that may be something that was planned but may not have happened in the end...

The current F1 is listed as 21mm, but is actually 21.5mm. So 22mm aftermarket straps can easily fit, albeit just slightly snug.

Maybe the rubber strap tapers then because it's definitely narrower than the nylon strap on this one... maybe I shoulda measured it before I ordered!

It's the lug width that matters, 22mm should be fine even if it tappers down to the buckle. But if you also want to use the TAG Heuer buckle, then measuring both ends would've helped.

Okay so I measured and the rubber strap tapers about 2mm, the nylon strap looks straight. The rubber retainers will stretch over the buckle.

Maybe I misunderstood, thought you were ordering a complete strap. Didn't understand what you meant by "metal retainers" before, but I think you're referring to the strap loops. I believe TAG Heuer went with metal to give it a NATO strap kind of look. Do they come off of the OEM strap? On most straps and NATOs, one of the loops is usually sewn into the strap.

22mm is massive, same as Monaco. Taper to 18mm advised. The Monaco is even tapered to 16mm.

They have two spring pins on each one (I think), well definitely the one that annoys me anyway.

Another thing I notice is that the date isn't in the middle of the date window, but then I look at my other watches and see that this is quite common (the top of the number touching the the frame). So it's funny when people say you can spot a fake because with a real watch the date will be smack in the middle of the frame. No it won't!

My F1 Senna Quartz is dead center, the Cal16 is not.
Funny....Cal 16 was twice the price ;-)

Now I look at it again it looks more central, does it move during the day?
