Does he wear it during the race? Very tight in the cockpit so I don’t expect he would.

Red Bull and Mercedes drivers are always seen putting on their watch after the race when they get to their "this is the marketing stuff you must wear in post race interviews" table. I think some drivers wear their watch, think I've seen B&R and Richard Mille on the wrist of drivers while they are driving.

Congrats Anthony! Will be interesting to hear if your experience with the strap will be the same as for Rob

I noticed this too, I saw Max putting it on as well just after he left his car. Now I want one 😁 I saw Norris's Richard Mille too 🥰

I've got the same opinion as Rob..the strap is quite stiff but I'm lucky it lines up perfectly on my wrist. Once it's on its very comfortable for me.

Max doesn't wear the watch in the Cockpit.
Only out of the car.

Too bad Max wears Rolex in his spare time. It makes sense but still a bit heartbreaking for us TAG fans 🙄

His contract probably bars him from posting photos of himself wearing other brands though.

I'm sure if I gained or lost weight so the holes fitted it would be fine, ah well - I've just picked up the FT8024 rubber strap for it.... but now my watch has gone back for the date to be returned to the middle of the window so now it's my turn to wait! Hope you enjoy it as much as me Anthony, I love the dial, a perfect summer watch!

Thanks Rob....yes I'm loving it so far.
I've managed to find the right size fitting for my wrist and once it's on it is really comfortable.

Really like the minimal thickness compared to most Mechanical watches I have.

One of the first things I did was check the date window. I have no complaints with mine. Date seems to be well centred on single digit and double digit days.

I will be looking for a different strap combo over the next few weeks to have some options.

Will post some more pics tomorrow in the daytime if we get some sun here in Melbourne.

Some of the reasons why I feel it's too soon to nickname the Orange F1 the "Verstappen" just yet. I personally would love it if he had a true affinity to this watch, but if he's wearing it just for TH marketing, then such a nickname would be less deserving.

FINALLY
Congrats Anthony! That took a while, you were certainly right about Rob getting his first even though you ordered before him. I'm sure it was worth the wait.

I suppose much of the nostalgia brands build their history on was just marketing back in the day. Today the Monaco is legendary and linked to McQueen but was he actually passionate about them? Didnt he wear Rolex and the Monaco was just a marketing thing? Realizing here that my McQueen knowledge is poor so please enlighten me Michael.

Even though Max cares nothing about TAG and only wears them cause his Red Bull contract says so, Im sure in the future many of us will assosiate TAG with Max. Lets hope 2021 is his first championship victory and the orange F1 shall forever be remembered as 'the watch Max wore when he became world champion'.

While one could argue that TH markets the heck out of the McQueen/Monaco connection, which they do, I feel the situation with McQueen is different. While McQueen personally favored his Rolex sub 5512, which has also earned his nickname, Steve did select the Monaco for his watch of choice in Le Mans. It wasn't so much marketing back then, just a case of Steve wanting to have the right look for his movie. History has since linked the two as legendary icons, so the name has been rightfully earned.

In the case of the Orange F1, it's just too early to say. If Max keeps wearing it throughout the season and he wins the WC title, that would be good enough for me.

Thanks man, now I've learnt something today 👍

I thought I had heard McQueen didnt choose the Monaco, but it ended up being the Monaco since it was the only model Jack had a lot of stock of and was able to deliever for the movie or something like that. But memory is not the best in me little brain. Plus for me honestly I think I am a bit too young to be fascinated and obsessed about McQueen, his movies wasnt something I watched growing up and the first time I heard about him was in TAG marketing.

That's part of the story, but not the real reason. I've heard Jack Heuer mention that they had lots of Monacos available for the movie because it wasn't selling well. But according to the book "Le Mans in the Rearview Mirror", by Don Nunley the movie's prop master, several different watches were shown to Steve, including: Rolex, Omega, Heuer Carrera, Autavia & Monaco Grey & Blue. Steve was very meticulous about his wardrobe and had already decided his character's race suit should look like Jo Siffert's. Steve initially chose an Omega for his watch, but Don pointed out his racing overalls had a "Heuer" patch. Steve then immediately chose the blue Monaco.

Bottom line, it was Steve's personal choice out of several different watch options.
