Impressive Steve, damn, give me heads up if you ever sell 馃憤
I do find it hard to justify 2x .014s.....but the standard and economy are still different!
At least you can see why I like this new F1. 馃槈

It鈥檚 the orange Monnin I was thinking about as not being genuine.
On this point-yes-there isn't a genuine orange dial '844'.

The auto jumbo is that mentioned in the catalogue above-it should have 980.005 on the caseback and 'SWISS MADE' on the dial. NEVER 844 and NEVER 'MADE IN FRANCE'-despite what some will say. (there were some loose 'Made in France' dials that have been retro-fitted but my understanding is that none of these were ever released from the Heuer factory like this.)

The new Orange F1 looks a lot more like these than the '80s F1 which supposedly inspired it. It's really starting to grow on me now, liking it more and more.

Review from My Buddy in the States.

I disagree that the straps are very comfortable. In fact I strongly disagree with that statement!

To be fair he did say they were a bit stiff but should soften.

I had a chance to try one on. It did feel comfortable to me, not scratchy at all, but then I only had it on for less than a minute.

Here's my take on it. Because the strap has no 'give' like a rubber strap, you can't get a great fit unless your wrist happens to be the perfect size for the existing holes. So I wore it all day under a hoodie and it was fine, as soon as I took the hoodie off it started to bug me. I think if your sleeve keeps it in place then it's fine, but if it's loose it moves about and that's when it becomes an issue. The holes aren't that far apart, but I'd liken it to a bracelet with no half links and no micro adjustment (like the Aquagraph for example) where it's too small or too big. I did wear it on the next hole up and it felt okay, but when I took it off I could feel it for hours, as if something had been crushing my wrist. Anyway, I'm getting the rubber strap from the carbon/yellow dial for it.

This is a problem with many straps I find. I always seem to want a hole in the middle of two holes!

I did think about trying to make another hole, but I think there's a danger it would pull through. Maybe not because it's quite dense material.. I dunno.

I've always been scared to punch a hole in a fabric strap. Not sure if the hole puncher will cut through cleanly or fray the fabric. Even if it cuts cleanly, I'd think the hole would need to be lined with some kind of glue to prevent fraying over time. But I really don't know since I've never tried.

I will say that watch wore very well. It felt smaller compared to my Gulf F1, I have a hard time believing it's 43mm.

The trick is to use a lighter to burn the cut thread so it doesn't fray. That's what I do with my natos anyway.

This stuff is like nylon/plastic though, so not sure it would be the same as NATO

That seems even more scary!!! It might melt the F1's strap or have it burst into flames! 馃槖

Max wearing the Orange F1 during his winning drive at Imola!

The strap was the first thing I noticed in the post race interview 馃憤

Let's wait and see how often he wears it (or wins with it) to see if it really earns the right. 馃槈
