The reduced length of the lugs becomes really apparent on the videos.

IMHO, the elongated lugs of the 60s Carreras is one of the key characteristics that we love. I understand TAG Heuer shortened them for ergonomics, however this change does make the case look more bloated.

But even if the lugs were 2mm longer on each side the lug to lug would have increased to 50mm, so... much easier to put long lugs on a smaller watch.

I am a bit late to the party but have now read every post in this thread. Great discussions and I just want to agree with the fact that Tags lineup is a big mess.

Not a fan of these new Carreras... prefer the older modular cases and the dials of the H01's. Also, what the hell is up with the Heuer02 80 hours text on the dial 👎

I think @THJunkie said it perfectly with "What IS a Carrera these days?"

Why does this video seem to be another biased narrative against TAG Heuer? 😒 The title including (More Likely Not) was like added for clickbait drama.🤦

it does not come across that way. To me seems balanced. And factually accurate. The new models are nice enough, but so what? They are nothing amazing and have stiff competition in similar price bracket.
I didn’t see the title as link was embedded. But the content seemed balanced to me.

i’d politely answer the question ‘why does it seem’ as being more to do with perception of viewer than the content of the video.

Yeah I also watched the video. You are correct, the content seems fair and balance. But the title to begin with (answering his title question) just irks me 😒

I think this design language from TAG Heuer is a step to the right direction. I like it a lot actually. A modern TAG Heuer Carrera with a respectable TAG Heuer movement.

Unfortunately YouTubers do tend to clickbait viewers by giving their videos titles like 'Are TAG Heuer complete ****', even Urban Gentry did it in his factory visit video.
Garbage or Great Watches?
I guess they know TAG haterz (of which there are many) and TAG fanboys (like me) will flock to the video to post our ill conceived comments... it's all about the views at this point. And, since they know that some people will 'like' anything that appears to criticise TAG Heuer (whether they actually watch the video or not) this will keep happening. Didn't the 'Time Teller' say the other day that one of his most watched videos was called 'Why I never talk about TAG Heuer'... while making another video about why he hates TAG Heuer.
Speaking of views and social media, have any of you looked at Tik Tok?
Please don't.
I lasted about three minutes before I could feel my IQ level plunging.

Yup. Urban Gentry even made a Museum and Factory tour of TAG Heuer. Too put it bluntly, he had a generally balanced review of TAG Heuer, he had a great time inside TAG Heuer factory, so why put "Garbage" in his title? It really is for me disrespectful. But again, they just need to make a living and the number of views are the basis for their income. Clickbait economy. People have come down to this level unfortunately.. 👎

That video is weird. He looks uncomfortable throughout, like he knows giving a balanced view isn't going to win him any brownie points with his 'WIS' followers. I almost think he made the video and then threw his viewers a bone with the title.

I'm a little late to the party, but anyone else think there's a strong hint of speedmaster about these?

hint? They are slightly more than hints I feel. I don’t know enough about the details of the history as to whom was inspired by whom. Both brands have a long legacy of sports chronos. Equally storied and worthy of respect.

But yes that was my initial reaction when I saw these new ones...... why would I buy one if these when I can get a Speedmaster Racing or similar - ‘Brand’ loyalty and cost aside? They bring nothing much new to the table. So I’d not buy these personally.

But it is interesting to observe the price points. These are now at the same price point a Speedy Racing was only 2 years ago give or take a few £100.

The heritage Carreras on the other hand Omega has nothing like those. They are quite unique on their design and so classical, even with modern re-issues. So that’s where TH got my money this year.

I “collect” both and have roughly equal number of each. No bias in my side as I see the best of both brands. I simply feel that TH do a better job of the more vintage inspired chronos and Omega do a better job of the modern reinventions. Skeleton dials aside.

It’ll be interesting to see what September brings. TH could well have something to wow us up their sleeves.

Probably not unless you're into these half-assed vestigial running seconds hands they're doing now. Some may like it and that's fine, but for me they will ruin an otherwise well-designed watch.

is that the new H02 Monaco? Not sure i’m a fan of that extra running seconds floating seconds hand.
