Nice choice! We look forward to hundreds of sexy photos coming up then ๐Ÿ˜Ž
Thanks Jim! I will defiantly post some pics when I get it, it seems to be a very photogenic piece!
Congratulations! I'm glad you found one at the right price for you! I'm sure you'll love it! Enjoy!
Thank you, and thanks for the help on this one, it helped push me over the edge. Now its just import duties and VAT that I need to worry about!

Another question, what is the difference between a Limited Edition and a Special Edition? Is this Gulf F1 mass produced or will there also be a limited number made?

Limited - normally means limited in production run and usually, but not always, numbered.
Special - The co-branded watches with ambassadors or football teams, for instance, are special editions and are not normally limited in number.

That's what used to think too. However the Monaco 50s are called Special Editions, but they are obviously very limited in number. So now I'm a bit confused as to what TAG Heuer really means when they call a watch a special edition.

Maybe they are 'Special' because they are associated with an event, in this case 50 year celebration of the Monaco, which is similar to be associated with an ambassador or a team.

Actually that doesn't work because my McLaren 1974 Edition is a numbered, limited edition but is also associated with an anniversary. ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ

Right, co-branding could go either way. The Calibre 12 Monaco Gulfs were all LEs. But the Cal 11 Monaco Gulf is an SE, as is the F1 Gulf.

I think TAG uses SE in a broader way these days. Yes they are "special", but they are not usually numbered. But whether TAG limits the number by only selling it for a limited time we don't know yet.

We also learnt from "Watchiary" on Instagram in relation to the launch of the latest Max Verstappen F1 watch that a special edition often means that they limit the production number without making the number official. If i remember correctly the Verstappen watch would be produced in something like 1500 pieces but, I am guessing, they leave it open for producing more in case of demand being high.

Here's a pic of the rubber/silicone strap I bought for the Gulf. Not a bad match. Very comfortable. Got it from strapsco.com.
It comes with quick release spring bars but they don't fit the F1. Just a little too big being a true 22mm. This watch measures around 21.5mm so I had to use the spring bars that came with the watch.

Did you try swapping on the TAG Heuer buckle too?

No. I'd rather leave the original band as is. Plus, the TAG buckle is a bit smaller and is a tight fit to the rubber.

My Gulf arrived! What a beautiful watch and box. Chronext were so helpful, they even assisted me with the customs process. I am so happy with it. I have been after this piece for a while now.

Thank you for your help and for answering all my questions!
Stunning! Well done @Tag_ZA I understand your joy
Thanks Jim, I am so happy with it! I can't stop staring at it. I am a bit worried that the strap will wear quite fast, I will look at getting a replacement one.

Fully understand that, remember that the strap was what put me off when trying the watch. Get the rubber recommended by @bdev ๐Ÿ˜€ looks amazing and most likely A LOT more comfortable

Thanks Jim, yeah I will give that a go. The strap is beautiful, it feels great its just not 100% practical for everyday use.
