The new Link chronograph watches look really, really nice, especially at 41mm.

Am I correct in understanding that these are first TAG Heuer automatic chronographs with 3-6-9 subdials in a long time? I know there was a quartz Carrera Panamericana with 3-6-9 subdials in 2015.

One thing, though: why do some of the photos show the date with white-on-black-background, while others show the date with black-on-white-background? I much prefer the white-on-black. I guess TAG Heuer has not finalized the production model yet?

The blue one (with its case shape, three subdial configuration, placement of the date, and color) reminds me of the 2016 Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph.

I love the black one.

The blue watches usually have a white date, but as far the color inconsistency on the black model, I guess we'll find out soon.

US$4,950 is probably a bit high. Maybe $4,500 would have been just right.

That black link looks good, hopefully we get a few more surprises that are that good.

@OttoWilliam - I kinda agree, I've been looking around for watches and the grey market prices are more what I think the watches are worth. Possibly this is because the £ has tanked and I'm a miser 😀 Things like the Heuer 01, carrera calibre 7, all seem about 20% more than I would pay.

From fellow miser to another, if you think that £ has tanked, my currency is falling apart ::facepalm1::

I love the new Link Chrono..a really, really nice piece of design. I'm keen to see how much thicker the case is than the Calibre 5, which has a nice slim profile- suspect that the case will bulge out a little to accomodate the thicker chronograph movement.

Having recently tried on the 3 hander and felt it was a bit boring, I must admit the chrono looks much more interesting.

Is it just me, or has TAG started with some kind of fetish for printing the entire Karamazov Brothers on their lowest subdial?

It does look a bit cramped, especially as it's the smallest of the three.

That swap-in chronograph module appears to be Calibre 16 in a CAR201*-style case but at 41mm. Why don't they provide the Heuer 01 in the 41mm case instead of the Calibre 16? The Heuer 01 was originally the 1887, which was able to fit into 41mm.

The Cal. 16 is for the Modular 45. The Calibre 5 module above is for the Modular 41.

I suspect that production of the Heuer-01/ 1887 is being fully absorbed by the Carrera Heuer-01 range

In addition to what David/C11 said above, I think they want to differentiate and keep the premium movements to the full line, while offer lower cost options as 'Modular' components to the Connected crowd.

41mm mechanical module looks good. Any ideas on pricing for it?

If you think that is a lot of text, you obviously haven't seen the Rolex Daytona dial. That has the full version of War and Peace printed on it.

That sounds like something quite good to do and I support them if that is their game call.

HA, yes we have both commented on it before! The Daytona is definitely the entire War and Peace, but the new Link is starting to push it. Same thing when they printed the Heuer02 text on the Autavia.
