Hi Hubert or any other owners can I please ask you how loud the movement is on your watch?

I’m new to these kind of watches and have just purchased the 85th Birthday edition today. However I am noticing it to be a bit louder than my 43mm Skeleton Heuer01 watch that I have had for a few months now.

If I move my wrist fairly fast I can hear the movement quiet clearly (hard to explain but a bit like a hissing noise) for a few seconds before it stops. I had never noticed this sound before on the Skeleton watch I have.

Can you tell me if this is normal or if I may have a faulty one please.

I know I have asked this in a couple of threads now but am just seeking peace of mind that this is normal. I apologise if this is annoying anyone.

Thank you
As others responded to you on your other threads, this is normal. Both of mine exhibit the sound you describe when the rotor is moving. Rest easy!

Thanks guys. I’ll be quiet now 😀

Hubert, I see you have both Autavia’s. I’m really tempted to get the ‘normal’ reverse panda as well. Do you have a preference and do you feel the compliment each other?

Thanks

I will try to take some shots over the weekend.

Here's one of the two siblings in their new home. 😀
Hi Hubert,

Sorry to go off topic a bit but can I enquire which watch winder you have your Autavia’s in please?

Also, would you recommend a winder?

Finally, what setting do you have your winder’s on (Had a brief look online and a lot of winders have different settings and I wouldn’t know which setting is best)?

Thank you.

I like them both. However the JH85 is my favorite, as it resembles the fantasy model that I voted for during the Autavia Cup. In the end, it's all a matter of personal preference. I would suggest that you go to a dealer and try it out, in order to determine if you like it enough to get it.

I have several automatics, so to keep them all running I have to keep them in winders. I have different models, but this one in particular is from Wolf Designs. If you have many automatics that you use regularly, then getting them in winders makes sense. Otherwise maybe not so much. Check out this discussion.

After a long period of lusting over the standard Autavia - then seeing the JH85 I spoke to my AD about it some weeks ago. They got it for me on view from one of their other stores - at my AD - I saw it Friday for the first time in the flesh.

I wore my Carrera Calibre 16 Day Date in - took it off and put this on, and was surprised how SMALL it is in person compared to the Carrera. It put me off a lot.

I asked for them to hold the piece until Monday for me, so I can try it on again.

I loved the look of the watch (however it wasnt an early number in the LE series) - but it was very small (and a dealbreaker at this stage).

If you think the Autavia is small, you would think the Telemeter us a ladies watch.

I dont know, the Autavia (both the JH and the standard) have a large thick bezel - the JH85 looks narrower because the writing is smaller.

The "visible area" of the watch looks small - Im willing to bet it is about the same diameter of "viewing area" as the Telemeter.

Mind you the Carrera is a large watch, with a very thin bezel. I will wear another Aquraracer I own in on Monday, or not wear a watch at all (leave some room for the JH85 just in case)

The dial size is close, but it is still bit smaller on the Telemeter.

Here's how it compares with other famous dials.

Congratulations Hubert! I really was taken by the dial on the JH85 as it is captivating.

For me I was incredibly close to putting my name down to get the number I wanted, but ultimately I wanted my next Auto to not have a date or chrono so it could be that bit thinner and worn with everything.....but it’s all very personal.

A great addition to your collection and good luck deciding what you’re wearing tomorrow!! A good problem to have indeed.

Congrats, the watch looks stunning! It's high on my wish list. Never noticed the blue in the superluminova before, I guess it's the lighting.

Many thanks @Gambba! Let's see what next year's collection will bring. Hopefully we'll finally see this movement on the Carreras. Fingers crossed!

Thank you! It was bright and sunny outside when I went indoors and noticed the bright lume, so I took out my phone to take a shot before it started subsiding further. To my eyes it looked like the picture, blueish/greenish.

I’ve always admired this watch, and recently been very tempted as seen a few (from well known AD/retailer channels) at around 1/3 off RRP. Which seems exceptional value.l and off for a special/limited edition that is such a recent model.

Did these ‘bomb’ in terms of supply/demand from a LE perspective?

Don't know about "bombing"- but certainly there are plenty on Chrono24 (~20)

I really like the watch, so if you can find it at a good price I'd certainly go for it

Yeah pretty much. There weren't 2,000 people interested in these watches so many remain unsold, and those that did buy but decided to sell on are seeing values plummet. But if it's something you like, who cares - I don't think you should buy any watch you can't afford to lose at least 70% of the purchase price on should you resell it.
