Congratulations Hubert et al that got them!

My initial thought was wow. Finally a Heuer branded, gulf racing stripped, gulf logo'd Monaco!
I am meant to be borrowing a Monaco from Tag Heuer soon to see how it fits me, and really all over the place in my thoughts as to if I try and get one of these. The red hands and markers do give me a bit of a "Why?" moment, but then what couloir could they have done them in realistically? Orange would have been lost, and white maybe too much....?

I like the fact that "TAG" is absent from the dial although I do love the previous version and had I been on top of things would have bought one new back in the day (Mspeedster's is fantastic). The shade of red used in the new version is very retro and I think works well on both the hands and pips. The horizontal markers were a plus for me although I didn't expect them to be so highly polished.

On the down side the blue radial is hard to see except in very strong light and the strap, although aesthetically appropriate and attractive does not stink of quality as I would like it to.

It would be cool if they did a rattrapante version some day.

Here is an idea.....

But the issue there is the sub dials being white on this new Monaco, making white accents and hands lost I feel.

Thanks, I'm presuming it's an 18mm at buckle end?
I don't have my Monaco any longer, but if I am not mistaken it tapers to 20.

The Gulf Grey version has white sub dials and the same colored hands as the Gulf Black. I don't think the colors get lost at all with white sub dials.

I don't mind the red accents on this new Gulf 50th, but it does make the watch look very busy. Still feel orange hands like the previous 2 versions would have been better, but I guess they needed to make this one more different. Overall its a very nice piece for Monaco Gulf fans. Having said that, I do wonder about the appeal for people who could care less about Gulf Racing.

I don't care about Gulf Racing but I bought the watch anyway.
The Gulf logo and the colors and proportions of the graphic elements used on the dial, and the Monaco itself, makes this a period watch that reminds me of an era that I much prefer to the way things are now. I'm a "car guy" so tasteful designs such as these get my attention.

The watch will push buttons with some people who will spend the cash. I had two guys at cars and coffee ask me about it yesterday. It's the first time in years of attendance that anyone ever noticed what watch I was wearing.

Good move on their part, too bad for us - I'd have loved to custom order a strap like those. Ah well
Aaron at combat-straps could make you something similar, and at a better price.
And I am talking based on personal experiences.

Nice! If you feel inclined to share your car/s, you can do so at this thread.

Thanks for the kind words and the link. I did participate in that thread a while back but attracted a "hater" that had to mention the only thing he had was a Vauxhal van...so I deleted my pics and checked out.

BTW for what it's worth I watched the film "McLaren" last night and must say it was an exemplary film and increased my respect for Bruce McLaren exponentially. Maybe some of you guys would enjoy the film too.

Very nice! I haven't had the chance to see that documentary, but I've been very interested in it, hence my thread. 馃榾 https://forums.calibre11.com/threads/mclaren-documentary.53733/
