Which watch would you like to see TAG re-issue?

Think this is my favourite (borrowing from an idea earlier in the thread)

That 'shop looks a bit off with the actual vintage dial / hands in the modern case, but I think it'd work really well. I'd much rather pay $3500 for an automatic than 2k for quartz though

Disagree. For a 1000, quartz all the way. Unless tag start fitting anti-mag movement's, in which case I'll reconsider.

I just can't see myself ever buying another quartz watch - for me the whole point of watches is that they're objects with souls, and quartz just don't. As for anti-magnetic movements - I think most modern mechanical movements are fairly resistant to magnetization, it's just Omega who have decided to advertise based on that point. And unless you're working in environments with strong electromagnetic fields, I don't think you'll have much of a problem

Well Prof. X (Sir Patrick Stewart) favours IWC. So if those are good enough for fighting off Megneto. Good enough for anyone! 😜

This one.

Automatic movement and a slight tweak to the hands... keep the cathedral but slightly stronger/beefier

So... I've said a few times about a carrera using the 70s case of the Peterson 're edition.

How about one of these with the heuer02 inside... (image credit heuerworld.com)

The cheap movements that tag fit definitely aren't. The drawer on my bedside table became a high magnetic environment after the cleaner put my ipad in there. Calibre 16 doesn't keep time anymore.

For a special movement I can see some attraction, but I don't get much emotional attachment to a $200 calibre 5.

Yes, I agree. Not all movements are worth glass display backs either, the Heuer 01 yes, but the Calibre 6 - not so much. I went through a period of buying into the (overpriced) automatic thing, but now I'm quite happy with my quartz pieces. I've got a 32 year old 3000 that's ticking away nicely.... it'll probably last longer than me!

Good point. You can buy a degausser tool off eBay for like $15 or so, which I recommend

Thanks, had no idea they were that cheap. I was bracing myself for the tag repair bill.

Zodiac do some lovely looking watches. Yes, shame it's quartz.

I do like that...not surprisingly given it's a copy of a 70s Carrera!

Maybe with a silver/chpagne dial
Just posted on the OTD forum... apparently Zodiac has already done so. Hugely disappointing, it's quartz-only - but at least it's out there.

I was aware of those - amazing price point.

Would still like to see a tag heuer version, with a more premium dial, automatic movement and bracelet.

In the blue and particularly the champagne dials of the vintage heuer carrera just look amazing. However the vintage carrera models are attainable for a similar price to a new tag, so perhaps thats the direction I will take.

There are a couple of silver dials in their collection. Yeah it'd be nice to see TAG do something similar but I'm holding out until they bring their movements' quality up to par with the price they charge.

Definitely absolutely 100% truly recommend an actual Carrera from the '70s 😀 In fact I'm wearing my 1153 right now.
