err - please pardon my ignorance... but how do you know which of those central second hands is doing what?
On a rattrapante, the chrono hands start off moving together as one. Hitting the split stops the initial hand while the secondary continues; hitting the split again catches up the first hand and they move together again. So it's a way to continue counting while being able to stop and mark down a split
