And also, clearly a day behind, like 90% of my watches...

Nice, I love the blue dial on this one 👍

Oh, I see what you did there.... because the blue Kirium you thought was purple, but was actually blue is gone now... 😒

Happy new year! I think that may be the problem. My unadjusted one looks like this going under the second bar (which makes it tight and unable to move)

I can also confirm, @McBeardy you looped it wrong. It should look like this.

Watch the video I shared again. It's actually much easier to adjust the strap by not fully taking it off the buckle.

Haven't seen one of those before... what is it?
It's the not commonly seen ref. 980.004. Even more uncommon for these is the unmarked caseback or clasp, weird that.

Doesn't 980 usually mean 1000 Series?

Thanks, to be honest, the video was soo short i wasn't sure, looks like I changed the bar, when i originally fitted the strap on boxing day. User error!

Normally yes, but I believe the 980.004 pre-dates the 1000 Series nomenclature. It seems to have been introduced along with the legendary ref 844 as part of the Heuer Dive watch collection in 1979.

Jeff has this one listed separately as a Day/Date on his reference table at OTD, along with the 980.003.

Makes no sense though cos the case is completely different to the other 980s. Does it have a name? Oh it's quartz too, I didn't even notice that.

I love the simplicity in the catalog back then. Just ‘Gents diving watch, quartz, date’. Not the page of bs about how fine the movement is, how tough and ready for adventure it is, and how the history of this watch is the purest of any watch ever created.

100% AGREE! But you know these days they're not selling watches, they're selling emotions, memories and narratives.
