Finally- on the wrist and worth every minute of the journey. Thanks to the Tag Heuer staff in Ginza who held this watch for me to travel the 8500 to pick it up.
Congratulations for the red Monaco!! 😀 And what an “adventure” to get it! For sure it will make it even more special 👍

Thanks Hubert,
The world is a small place. Second leg over and getting closer. No prizes for guessing where I am.

They were kind enough to throw a leather jacket in as a gift. The colour of the watch is an enigma. It has to move to be appreciated as it Picks up the light and changes depending on its angle. Not easy to capture in a photo but I did my best. I’ll try and upload a vid somewhere when I get a chance. Right now, it’s sushi, sumo and Sake time!!
Congratulations! A wonderful excuse to make a trip to Japan. This certainly will add sentimental value to your Monaco.

Glad to see they also threw in a gift; I also got one of those Heuer jackets with mine too. Well done! 👍

Not a TAG today, a Hamilton Jazzmaster Chronograph. Sort of looks like a Carrera which is why I bought it. Notice the "H" links in the bracelet.
42mm with a 22mm bracelet. Very beefy.

Hi Cecil, it stuck in the back of one of the duty Free stores around Gate 5. TH don’t have their own concept store in HK Airport.

Wow amazing, they gave you a jacket too! So cool. Did you pay in full upfront or on finance? I always wondered if offering to pay in full for a top model of watch makes it more likely to get a gift? I'm a sucker for collectibles, and the stories behind them!

Yes, It was very nice of TH Ginza to give me such a nice gift. When I bought my LE Gulf last year, they gave me a Leather Heuer passport holder. These are the products that all the TH stores used to sell, but when they pulled them from the shelves, they decided to use them as a Gift with purchase. Stocks are getting low it seems, but they still had some of the old white and black ceramic Tag Heuer Rings that were mentioned on Calibre 11 as few weeks ago.
I didn't pay up front, actually they couldn't take an over the phone Credit Card payment, hence me jumping on a plane. Spur of the moment , but for a LE Red Monaco, what else is there to do.
I too, like you are a sucker for collectibles.....maybe one day I'll open my own Heuer museum.😗

This one doesn't get enough wrist time really... I find it's a watch you have to be in the mood to wear.

Is it the two tone aspect one needs to be inthe mood for?

Yeah I think so... although that doesn't seem to be a problem when it comes to my 3000 or my 2000 Exclusive. I think the alternate links are quite in your face though, which the others don't have.

Yes, I can understand that.

All gold or gold/steel are tough ones, IMO. When I was in HK a few years ago, I tried on an AP Royal Oak. It was solid gold because they didn't have any S/S models in stock. It was full on to look at on my wrist and I can't imagine ever pulling something like that off.

That said, I love the JLC Amvox 3 Tourbillion GMT with its subtle rose gold elements:

Yeah, less is more with two tone I find. The 2000 Exclusive has a gold bezel, but only some very small gold parts on the links, it's a lot 'easier' to wear.

300SLR on a Hirsch Carbon:

Loving that Orange strap on it.
Walking the streets of Tokyo today visiting a few watch shops and I saw one of these 300SLR’s for sale for about $2900AUD.
Was tempted but felt it wasn’t me.
Might have been a different outcome if the strap had been that orange beauty.

Good price. You should have gone for it. The original strap is one of TAG Heuer's best, IMO, but the Hirsch Carbon really makes the orange accents on the dial pop. The dial is something else too, considering it is brown! I imagine the red dial of the Monaco is similar in the way light plays on it.

Last day with the Monaco before putting up for sale to offset a new watch purchase 🙁
