Man are you lucky. My Siffert LE is about to enter its fourth month in Switzerland with zero status updates. I really really want to like what TAG is doing, and some of the watches look nice, but I won't be fooled into buying one again.

Currently there is a shortage on most of the Rolex professional models with almost all of them being hard to get. For Rolex collectors it's causing many to be content with their collections or to look elsewhere such as other brands. Rolex has intentionally throttled back their distribution of the professional line leaving many of their retailers with empty display cases with the exception of precious metal models, two tone models, and more dressy models such as the Just Dates, Oyster Perpetuals, Air Kings, Day Dates, etc. The less sought after professional models such as the Milgauss, Yachtmaster, and Explorer seem to be readily available as well.

Since Rolex is a non-profit they don't pay taxes. They aren't motivated by profit like the rest of the industry. They are part of the Wilsdorf Foundation. The reduced output is aimed at controlling the gray market from what's been said.

I was pretty surprised to read about this on the rolex forums, if brand loyalists are shopping elsewhere then it must be a negative thing? But conversely having used values that immediately appriciate is an incredible sales tool.

I think it's the cheaper models that are unobtainable, I can walk into a store today and buy a white gold gmt, for 拢28k, but the steel is sold out for 18months. Personally I'm hoping the Explorer is still available when I decide it's rolex time 馃榾

It used to be that in the UK it was harder to buy Rolex watches. Now I'm pretty certain the problem is world wide.

Spoke to an AD this morning. Have an appt to discuss weekend after next. Initial indication is around a 12 month wait on the ballpark spec I fancy.

Sounds like a trip to the doctors! Not sure I want to know what a ball park speck is...

Did you send it to them directly or through a dealer?

Through Tourneau, here in San Francisco it's either them or Macy's and I figured Tourneau would be the way to go as a watch retailer rather than a department store

In that case, they (TAG Heuer) are probably communicating with Tourneau. I suggest that you contact Tourneau to see if they can provide you with any information.

Sounds like good progress. In my case, here in New England, I wanted to buy a watch which they had no orders for after having bought a highly sought watch last year from the same AD. They pretty much shut me down cold. Now they know I'm a collector but I'm not a flipper. I really wonder if letting them know about my collection worked against me. Strange behavior.

Might as well show what I'm wearing to try to keep the thread on topic.

This one today...

Love the two tone blue!!!

The Autavia is back on original leather and I seem to have found I like to take my photos, with the hand in the pockets!
