Given the noteworthy anniversaries this year, I am adding an El Primero to my list. Just waiting for Baselworld to see if Zenith releases an individual special edition, in addition to the insane $50K 3-piece Anniversary boxset. If they don't, then this one will probably be it.

That box set looks nice. Steep price though. Seems a huge premium over the ‘basic’ non commemorative models.

Yes, it's a super luxury boxset. It includes a trip to the Zenith factory and gives the 50 lucky owners, the option to buy a 4th watch that will be released at a later date, with the next evolution of the movement.

I’d read about the slot for the optional / possible “4th warch”. I’d expect that to be in the mix too for 50k tbh. Factory viait is a nice touch. But for a 50th annoversary you’d think they would have included a gold variant. I was expecting one when i saw the price but before I read the various links. But no, they are all steel only woth a small touch of ceramic on one.

I think in that price bracket for high luxary / very limited box sets that Omega’s Tokyo 2020 offered much better value. 33k for 5 LE watches looks good value by comparison.

Yes, I think $50K is too high for 3 watches, even if the trip is included. However, if Zenith decide to offer the watches for sale individually at a later date, then enthusiasts won't even remember that this exclusive boxset ever existed. If they don't, then how about some variations? The first two are phenomenal, it would be a real shame if only 50 of each were ever made.

Agreed. The Chromomaster 2.0 would by my pick of the bunch. The technical feat of the defy aside.

Exactly; that's why I'm still hopeful that we'll see some variations announced at Baselworld. Zenith can't afford to lose this sales opportunity given the significance of the 50th anniversary.

The joke is that, apart from the original, all the advances in chronograph timing have been made by TAG Heuer. They have already built a 1/1000th and the Defy 21 was designed by TAG Heuer engineers and scientists. It seems an odd way to celebrate the 50 years.

Yes, I enjoy that irony too.

The tricolor Elprimero with the right size is always tempting.

The price keeps most of drooler away in an instant.

I think for 50K there are plenty of other options to be consider.

That being said, hope you get it @Hubert 😉. Really want to see the live wristshot of it. Preferably in the wrist of calibre11 member.

Thanks, I am definitely waiting for Baselworld to see all the releases to compile my wishlist.

Funny you should mention the "Dark Lord" Monaco. I was thinking this could be a good candidate to celebrate Monaco's 50th anniversary in 2019. We'll just have to wait and see if something like this materializes.
Great color combo...

Anyone still deciding whether or not to pull trigger on Monaco or Carrera or Autavia, this video might nudge you a bit about towards pulling it in the end.

Cheers

What is your next purchase?
I would love to add that “ Pepsi Tag “ to start my collection.I find it totally weird to spend “ twice as F 1 “ but have the same bracelet ??? It didn’t make any since yet ..

What model is the Carrera featured in that video? That’s a lovely looking watch. A re-issue of that I’d happily part with some hard earned.
