Not yet, seriously considering, looking for any owners/reviews beforehand.

Never owned or handled one but I think the bronze CW seem to be seriously good value for money. I would go for a pure bronze diver rather than gmt variant personally. Oris also offer an interesting bronzie...

Congrats. Please post your impressions once you get it. Have you seen it in the metal before?

Here's how it compares to the Calibre 17.

Well, so far hugely disappointed. It is a lovely looking watch and I knew it was slightly smaller for a Carrera Chrono. Purchased it on a whim online direct from TH and excitedly anticipated arrival. I’d searched elsewhere online for prices and stock and as in love with the look so much - it really is a hansome watch - I was ok with paying full whack to secure one.

BUT ... I made the mistake of popping into town to discuss Daytona spec and waiting list with an AD yesterday and low and behold they had a Cal 18 Tele in stock. So I asked to see it. I was gutted that it felt rather cheap to the touch. My other Carerra (Cal 17) is nice but does not feel overly special, but upon first physical encounter the Cal 18 felt like something out of a Christmas cracker!l!!

I also found it hard to read .... but I put that down to smaller size, lack of glasses at the time and the 100s of glaring lights in the ‘showroom’ dazzling off the glass box. So I was hoping that once mine arrived with more time to evaluate at home that I’d have a better impression. Just before I walked into the AD I received a text from TH to advise it would be delivered today.

I was SO gutted by the initial experience I went back to another Ad and picked up a Speedy to consile myself lol.

Hoping my initial impressions was overshadowed by close proximity to Omages (I’d tried a speedy in anoter AD minutes previously also) and Rolex yesterday, with a little apprehension i opened the box. Watch did look very nice. But again felt a little cheap. Certainly not as special as I’d expect a watch to feel given the full RRP. And to top it off the clasp on the adjustable leather strap won’t shut tight.

So I’m going to send it back. Gutted as much as one can, I’d become ‘besotted’ by the look of the watch. It looks stunning in the marketting photos!

Leason learnt I think. To always try ‘in the metal’ before deciding on a purchase.

In conclusion, so draw a motoring analogy. i feel like with the Omega I spent BMW money and got a BMW. With the other two (recent) Tags (Heuers) I own I spent VW money and got a VW (the Carrera) and a BMW (the Monaco whichbis a lot of bang for buck), but this Cal 18 is priced at VW money but I feels more like a Kia.

Maybe I am missing a point. But overall it feels quite disappointing. I’ll spend more time with it over the weekend, but gut feeling is that I’ll be sending it back.

UPDATE AFTER 3 WEEKS:

Well, I’ve still not aentnit back yet. I don’t think i will. Whilst i am still not entirely happy with it, most of the negatives / disappointments I posted I’ve come to better understand with more time. I’m still not convinced it is ‘worth’ the asking price in terms of build. The strap for some reason was really squeaky and I think that overshadowed the feeling of the watch upon the first few wears. Legibility is improved in various lighting and as I’ve become accostomed to the smaller dial. It is a stunning watch face to look at. I think I just have a natural preference for chunkier watches and needed some time to adjust. I probably got out if bed the wrong side the day I wrote all the above too. 😁

Whoah! You're buying watches like they're chocolate bars, not cars. 😀 I'm surprised about what you're saying in relation to the Cal 18. I thought it looked stunning in the flesh. Are you sure it's not just because it's a bit smaller and lighter? It's made from the same materials as the others. The Speedy is a lot of watch for the money, though, for sure.

Lol. I won’t and can’t keep up the pace that’s for sure.

I did wonder it if was simpky down to the size and weight, so I’m going to give it the benefit ofnthe doubt and spend the weekend with it before making a final decision. A smaller lighter watchbis not going to feel so ‘substantial’ of course as you point out.

I think this review (which I’d not read until tonight) sums up my current thoughts on the piece in less emotive lanugah than I’ve expressed.

And yes it is a beauty to look at. That’s not in dispute.

I think the hard to read part is because of habits.

I found the same problem at first. But i figure out most of the time, i only see the outer marker on the dial (marked picture attached). If you use the telemeter/kilometer as the base it will be confusing.

But yeah, watch is very personal, too bad you didn't like it.

Cheers

Labelnoir made the first *i think* customized Millgauss TOURBILLON.

Thoughts ?

Monaco tourbillon might not seems too far fetched in the end.

Whilst at a Rolex AD having a gander at a Dytona (still very much a distant pipe dream due to the wait list and/or cost of PM variants), I spied this in the Tudor section. Must say it did look fantastic, even better than in photos. Didn't have time to ask to try it on, but seriously considering putting onto the wish list.

That's the new Black Bay 58, right? I haven't tried that on, but would love to when the time comes! I've been considering the burgundy red Black Bay, but the size and especially thickness is way too much for me. Hopefully, the 58 can be a positive change in this trend towards smaller and slimmer watches!

It's not the 58. 58 bezel and crown are not two-tone plus has a red triangle bezel pip marker and is smaller and slimmer.

I'm sure my next watch will be the 58 but waiting till a) the used price comes down, and b) see what they release next year in terms of different colour options

I will say having picked up the Black Bay Blue a few months back that it is an exceptional watch for its price. I was a little skeptical as it’s been a “forum darling” everywhere and generally they fall into the category of temporary fads, but I will fully admit I can see why people like this family of Tudors so much. I have smallish wrists and it’s not too large for my personal taste but I can see the 58 would be an attractive option if you required smaller proportions all round. Whatever one you do go for I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

Thanks for the guide on how to spot a 58! I quite like the new reference colour wise, but still want to see what Tudor are planning for the near future. As I wrote in my previous post, the burgundy red with the 58 dimensions would be very interesting and also the Two-tone reference in a bit smaller format. Time will tell I guess!😀

It is the new Black Bay S&G [steel and gold, though the gold bits are mostly capped, not solid]. (we’re jot ‘allowed’ to call it two tone apparently 😁). Dial in two options (golden or black dial), then a choice of bracelet, leather - as in the photo above - or fabric strap.

The simplest way to tell it apart is the fact it has a date at 3 o’clock. The other subtlties are far too technical 😝.

Thank you! The watch on the picture looked much smaller that it did with its bracelet on my wrist some months ago😉

I’ve updated my view on the Tele 18. Edited the original post rather than quoting here. In short, I’ve grown to like it and still love the look so she’s a keeper.

That's a nice dial colour. Never seen one like that before

I didn't get it, I didn't actually bid... it was low £300s when I found it but it finished at £418. There's another one on eBay but it's £500.

You wont regret keeping Telemeter. Trust me. Already twice i've been approached to sell it on profit which i turned down. Obviously.
