So this is kind of like getting a new watch. After taking forever to take some great advice from @imagwai , I finally ordered some custom corfam style straps from GLC Straps that work with the factory deployant. They came out great and were extremely reasonable in price. I highly recommend their straps and custom shop. You will see many more photos of them on my Instagram

Thanks you @imagwai 👍
@Aquagraph we need that second photo in the next addition of the COSD book 😝

Not a watch, a week in Madeira, 4 weeks time, although they have a couple of nice watch shops. wife is bouncing already at the thought of a holiday.

Nice! You forgot the most important info. What watch will you wear for vacation?

Indeed, I will do a couple of weeks in Croatia soon and I think I have decided what to bring. Probably. I am sure. I think.

Finally had a chance to try on the Black Bay Pro. I'm on the fence about whether to get it.

I came so so close to buying this, but have decided to pass for now. 🙁

I have to say the decision on this one was agonizing, kept going back and forth. I think my head is still caught up in the hype around this watch a little more than my heart really wants it. If I didn't already have the BB58, I would've bought it for sure. The thickness does bug me, it's the same height as the glassbox Carrera but felt more slab sided. Having said that, I don't think it's a deal breaker for anyone who truly loves this watch. However for my given collection, I think I want the Pelagos FXD a tad bit more. Won't know if that's the one until I actually see it in the metal and try it on the wrist.

It's a nice watch but definitely flawed. The thickness really kills it for me. They did such a great job on the BB58, it's a bummer they couldn't make this one work. Saw the blue BB58 at my AD last week, still a very cool watch and probably the best in the line-up. Might be a great daily beater alternative to the sub.

That's one of the things I weighed in my mind, would I be willing to part with my BB58 for the Pro? The answer was no.

That's what my BB58 has become, but my Sub was also my daily beater for years.

My AD also had the silver BB58, but the overall look was too bland for me. The bronze 58 is probably my second favorite after the OG. The blue is nice too, but this guy's custom faux aged blue is really something else!

I've seen that one on the gram. I like it but I think you'd be better off chasing a snowflake. Looks like an expensive mod and decreases the value of your watch on top of that. But then again it's great looking and unique.

I just admire what he's done, love the look.

On a related note, one of the reasons I like the FXD is that it's not trying to copy or pay tribute to anything. It's a niche watch, purpose built for what it is, and I just really love the way it looks. Plus I don't have anything in my collection like it. The Pro just felt a little too similar to my 58, but I still really liked it, just didn't feel head over heels in love with it.

On a Dutch watchforum I've seen this one, not artificially bleached or anything, person wears the watch a lot during work and swimming;

Yikes, I don't think I'd like that "true" patina on a relatively new watch that's just a few years old.

Might just take a diver and not worry about in/out the pool or lots of lotion and forgetting to swop.

The grey one is much thicker than the red. The red is a replacement sourced direct from TAG this year, the grey came on the watch from Japan. I have two watches with the thicker straps, both from Japan - are the straps in Japan thicker? Maybe Snowy knows?
I have some New Old stock straps of Formula1.
Three Red straps I ordered recently are all thin from TH Japan.

Another Two Orange straps, one from France is thick, one from TH Japan is thin.

I have now experience this first hand with my latest purchase. The strap on my all original yellow/grey F1 from '89 has a thick strap, purchased in the US. The strap on my latest purchase, the red "Shell" F1 has a thin strap and came from Japan. I just received a NOS red strap that came from the US, it's also thin and is now mounted on the watch. The old red strap was still in good condition, but the red had darkened with age. The new red one is nearly the same color as the case, so I like it better color wise.

I noticed some differences. The old red strap is very soft, feels like rubber. My original grey strap is hard and more plastic like in comparison. The new NOS red strap is in between, not as soft as the old red strap but not as hard as my original grey. I also noticed the pin buckle holes are in a slightly different position on the thick grey strap compared to both thin red straps. The holes start closer to the case on the thick grey compared to the thin reds.

One last thing, the new red strap had this metal sleeve in spring bar hole (see it next to watch). This was kind of strange, neither my original grey nor old red strap had that metal sleeve. I removed the metal sleeve, because I felt it would make future removal of the new strap more difficult.

In addition, my local AD tells me these straps are now discontinued and can not be ordered from TH. The NOS one I just got was from eBay.

New watch came in today!! Been looking at this since it was released but never pulled the trigger. It came up in an awards catalogue from work and took it as a sign. Cool, vintage character and the brightest orange dial I have ever encountered.

Nice! Congrats! 👍
I guess you didn't want to follow the orange Aquaracer crowd or since it was a work award, beggars can't be choosy? LOL 🙄

Can’t beat free! The size is nice as well. On paper it’s 41mm and 14mm thick but wears like a 39mm and just the right amount of thickness. It’s a perfect addition to my collection.

As much as I like the new orange Aquaracer, I would like the new Night Diver Aquaracer. I can wait a bit as I hope they make a 40mm version of it in the future.

Really? That seems hard to believe... I've had no problem ordering all sorts of F1 straps here, it's a nice money maker for TAG, £32 for a strap that probably costs £1.

I think these Devil Divers are actually super nice (especially for free)! Pity that Bulova doesn’t put a little better movement in there…

How recently have you bought one? I'll try my TH Boutique contact and see what they say.

The one I got from ebay was slightly more than £32 at $48 USD. But usually the NOS ones I see are priced at around $100, which is way too much for these F1 straps.
