In general it should be fine, but no guarantee that an Aquaracer might not be a very "good" fake. I think it was Otto who said, only buy AR from AD unless you 100% trust the seller and can trace the history of the watch. You dont want to end up having the voice in your head asking you on a regular basis "what if this is a fake?". We have seen examples of AD's confirming fakes to be real. In Sweden where I live I have seen two examples of the biggest auction house of luxury goods confirming fakes to be genuine in their "proof of authenticity service".

Since Aquaracer is such a popular entry level luxury diver, popular all over the world, with a mass produced sellita or ETA movement, it has become convenient, easy and popular also for the filthy criminals to produce many many fakes of it.

Ahhhhh Sweden no wonder you are up weird hours for me here in New York lol. You are 6 hours ahead. Thank you for the input. Loving this site!!!

A few months ago I told you guys about a trip to the Tudor Boutique in Melbourne to buy a Black Bay Chrono in Reverse Panda.
To my surprise they didn't have one to look at and they tried to sell me something else instead.
As I didn't have any previous purchase history with the Brand I was told I would be put on the "list" for the Chrono.
I didn't really hold much hope of a call.

Fast forward to yesterday and I made an online enquiry to the same Boutique about the same watch. I got a call today from the same Young lady I saw months ago in the Boutique

She asked me a few questions about which model I wanted and again they didn't have the Chrono in store to look at.

All she could do was add me to the "list"?
My question is if they have my details shouldn't I be on the list already?

This just goes to show that these Lists that AD's talk about are just crap. I will continue to wait on the Boutique to make contact but I fear I will have to be the one to follow them up in another couple of months.

Not a great experience with a Boutique unfortunately.

At ADs, you expect this, but not so much a boutique. However, quite a few boutiques are actually run by an AD - just that they're allowed to set the store up as if it were TAG Heuer. For example, the TAG Heuer boutique in Westfield shopping centre (UK) is actually run by Ernest Jones. Not trying to compare experiences here, as my dealings with Ernest Jones in the UK have been very good. They put me on a list for the BB58 and whilst I had to ring for updates, it was clear I was still on said list and moving up. And they did call me when they got one for me! In the case of the BB58 blue, I was offered one after only a couple of days on the list, though, possibly because I'd bought previously from them? Who knows.

Was planning on enquiring about the BB Ceramic big this whole list thing has stopped me so far. Sounds like a pain in the butt when you’re looking for your first decent watch.

I think having the purchase history helps you heaps. But how do you get the history unless you just buy a piece you don't really want?
I'm not prepared to do this for a Tudor or a Rolex.

This Boutique is owned by The Hour Glass so you are correct about AD's.
In the meantime I will hunt around for a pre owned or Grey.

Don't be disheartened...I've known people to walk into a Rolex Dealer and after 2 weeks of waiting get the call for a Submariner.
With no previous purchase history.
It's worth a shot.

I don't, I only bought what I wanted. I was just patient and waited 2-3 months for my initial BB58.

Tudor availability will catch up. The newer, in-demand models will take a little time to filter through, but like the BB58, the chrono will be readily available given a bit of time I'm sure. Maybe you'll want the next new release by then, though? 😀

The "list thing" is different depending on which AD you go to, and depending on demand for your chosen model. Maybe certain Rolex models are a bit pointless - I wouldn't bother asking for a Ceramic Daytona for example - but for anything Tudor, it's absolutely worth enquiring and going on the list.

Yeah if it takes too long I might be over the Chrono anyway. Then the new model I want may be wait listed also. Hahaha...vicious circle.

I have a feeling Tudor tend to wait till demand has been satisfied/slowed down on a hot model before releasing anything else tasty. Explains why 1 year after the BB58 launch when demand was still high, they gave us the P01 instead of the blue BB58!

Anthony has me worried I will never receive my 58. Lets hope they refund my deposit then. For me they never said a word about any list, they handled and processed the order, I payed deposit to show I actually was serious about the purchase and eventually I will receive my watch. I hope. It didn't feel like they were playing any games or such, more that they were sorry and explained that they have no idea how many, if any, 58's they get with each monthly delivery from Tudor.

Ah well, time will tell. Guess I could do like C man and call the ad and be a bit of a pain for them, just to make sure they dont forget about me once they actually receive a 58 🙄

I had to wait a year to get BB58 from an AD (Goldsmiths in the UK). Although this was a few weeks after the original release, role on 12m later and getting slightly impatient (birthday was impending) phoned around a few other ADs (as I knew the stories of these lists and the original AD saying it will be soon). Other ADs were quoting deposits to pay and no timescale on lists. A few weeks passed & the AD called said you are next on the list, received within 2wks of that call. (also helped having 20% off RRP through a scheme at work = even more excellent value BB58). Ordered a month after my daughter was born, arrived 1yr & 1m after that date and a week after my birthday, so one watch not going anywhere. F

Another experience with AD for Rolex in my hometown, enquired about a Rolex Sub to celebrate our 1st home purchase. AD was slightly 'up himself' and kept trying to push an Explorer on me, then had a Sub out back customers to try on, Was happy and said can I be added to the list, all agreed but was questioned why looking to purchase and local to the area (he did mention they'd rather 'local' people buy and those who really wanted the watch (not flippers). Said he'll add me but expect a few months. Week later received a call in stock as someone above me on the list pulled out. Unfortunately the weekend I went to purchase I had some unexpected expenses with out kitchen refit, couldn't get the Sub and a few months later bought a Panerai instead (recently now sold). This was 5yrs ago now and I expect would be a hell of a lot harder to get a Sub and they have also increased in price for RRP. But also if I did buy that Sub, i know 2nd had they are going for double that price.

Excuse the ramble, but guess waiting lists for me were both true as I didn't think Goldsmiths for my BB58 had me on a list, but also the Rolex AD did (but odd as I almost got one after a few weeks of enquiring).

Dont think I'd play the Rolex AD game now and find it very repulsive behaviour (especially being in sales previously).

You'll be fine. If they've taken a deposit, you'll get your watch, probably roughly when they said, give or take.

US seems to be worse than Europe for BB58 availability.

Just arrived! Very happy indeed. Photos cannot do justice to how amazingly finished this watch is. Size-wise, it is 100% perfection, and although I'll probably be putting it on a strap soon, the bracelet is the most comfortable I've ever worn. Can't quite believe you can get this much watch for what I paid.

I had a very positive experience with ‘the list’ at my local AD. I put my name down for a BB GMT before they were released. I’ve never bought anything from there, and besides trying on few precious metal Rolex’s, have no relationship.

A few months later I got a call saying it was in stock and asking if I still wanted it.
