Ah, you mean the 844 'let's make the Aquaracer look old' tribute don't you.
Still available on the website by the way, guess that hasn't sold too well either...

both look 'old' despite the black and ceramic. Especially the Blancpain.
Jeesus but that is FUGLY.
Well at least it looks better than the normal version, BUT.... who are we kidding, this is a skeletonised Chanel J12.

You wondered who made other options in carbon or ceramic, and I answered. Not my problem you're so picky 😜😜😜

Compare with this...

I honestly can't really tell the difference. Both are gaudy overdone LOOK AT MEEEEE watches, what's the difference beyond the Zenith at least having a good movement? 😉

You don't actually think the 844 looks 'old' compared to the other Aquaracer models, do you? Sure it's got the yellow lume but that doesn't really 'age' it all that much.

I personally however think it looks better mainly because of the matte dial. I don't think the shiny slatted dials of the standard watches work as well.

And no, at the end of the day it's a very half-assed 'tribute' and so it makes no sense to buy one if you're a fan of the original 844s. It's appeal is quite limited I think. Again though I just personally happen to like it for what it is - a new Aquaracer in titanium with a matte dial and lumed bezel.

I liked it when I tried it on, but I would have liked it a lot more with white lume... but then it wouldn't look 'old'.
I guess.

Well, IMO the TAG is a lot nicer looking, but that's subjective I suppose. Movements don't really excite me... so El Primero or not, I'd still choose the Carrera.

Catching up. Long week…

Arnault is pushing the Connect to be the premium Android watch and took away resources elsewhere. Building up an A team to compete with Apple Watch is the equivalent of climbing Mt.Everest in shorts. A competent team will take years to cultivate (if not a decade). TH isn’t baking it’s own OS, so that hurdle is out of the way. They still have to deal with design and hardware.

My guest is Arnault is no longer interested in mechanical watches. His focus is elsewhere. I’m guessing Connect.

Design: what a mess. They keep churning out mall watches release after release. They are so terrible, that forum members took it to their own hands to make corrections. TH can no longer design a decent watch.

what are the last great releases? The Dato? The Skipper? 160 series? All good.
But Dato is edited by Hodinkee, Skipper by Revolution. These two see their value appreciated, while 160 serries couldn’t hold their value. The except to that is the Carrera Fragment, that’s because fragment is designed Fujuwara.

What does it say about TH design team when a few forum members fixed and improved the layout of new releases? And bloggers design their hottest releases?

Engineering: first in-house movement of 160 years is a fail. Still, no words from TH to offer long term solution. Extend warranty to early H02 to 10years. 5years. Nope. You bought a shit movement. It’s on you. Do better homework next time.

look, we all HEUER nerds, we want to see the brand do well. We want to see our investments in TH appreciate and the only way to do that is to look into past releases, or move to another brand,

My Fragment is now having a chrono issue—again. It stopped at exactly 30 minute marker. This is after a year of asking for a movement replacement. Because there’s no serial number on the H02 movement, I have no clue if they indeed replaced it. It’s hard to support a brand when they can’t stand to deliver a working product. While my 1133B, at 50+ yo, is chucking along perfectly fine.

It’s a leadership issue. He’s in a hurry to put out unfinished products to drive revenue. If it’s working for him, congrats. It’s not working for me.

The 'TAG Heuer' Autavia (clue is in the name) is supposed to be a modern interpretation. 5 people on a forum who don't actually want a 'modern' interpretation of anything very much redesigning it so that it looks more like the original/it was designed in the past... hardly constitutes a compelling case.

My question would be, why do we suddenly need an Autavia Chronograph? I thought that was what the Carrera, Monaco, Formula 1 and Link were for? Ha... I mean I thought the Autavia's point of difference was that it was a three handed Pilot watch now? So they've taken the chronograph away from the Aquaracer and given it to the Autavia?

Totally agree that Frederic is in a hurry to evolve the brand. Trying to take pricing into the Omega and Rolex bracket.
I can't justify paying premium prices for a TAG so I've opted for other brands lately.
Looks like a new connected is due Mid March.

Curious to see how that works out. IMO TAG is not in the same quality or feature league as omega or Rolex.

I'm sure TAG isn't in the Omega league of quality, but it might have them beat on branding.

Maybe it's a good move as availability for Rolex and Omega to an extent is getting ridiculous.
Tag hoping to get some disgruntled customers that want a watch now?
Seems to work for Tudor from what I'm reading. Lots of people settling because a Rolex is out of reach.

Plus TAG Heuer seems to be opening a boutique in every major city (in the UK at least)...

Where did you pull this from?

Omega is the world's 2nd most recognizable watch brand in the world with approximately 70% worldwide brand recognition and is only second to Rolex in terms of brand recall.
