Pre Carrera perfection 馃憤
I obviously know too little about history. Did the Carrera exist before the birth of the Carrera, just without the name Carrera?

Maybe it would be more correct to call the Carrera post 73623 馃槈

I thought the whole brilliance with the Carrera was its unique and crisp design that Jack Heuer came up with when he invented the Carrera. When exactly was the first Carrera looking non Carrera released? Was 73623 the first reference?

check this out from OTD

These are all '60s models with dial configurations that evolved into the Carreras we all know. Jack Heuer took control of the company in 1958 so he's credited for these designs that were the foundation of the Carrera with the now iconic case from Piquerez.

Nah these are later in the '60s - more like '68-69. "Pre-Carrera" tends to refer to any V72 / 23 Heuer chronograph from the 50s, though strictly speaking it should only refer to the Ref. 2447 which evolved into the 2447 Carrera.

Instead, this is one of the 'budget' designs with cam-lever movements, that sprang up later in the '60s. (The 73623 is powered by a 7736, for instance)

Thanks for clarifying! Then I get it, so the 73623 is a Carrera released after the Carrera was born, but it does not carry the name Carrera, it is named 73623 馃憤

Except it's not really a Carrera, since it's a budget model with super different lugs! (I think the real differentiator was that it was a cam-lever movement during a time when the 3-hand Carreras all had column-wheel movements. The cases were also usually base metal rather than stainless steel)

Another stunning Heuer Carrera 1153N. This one offered on C24 recently.
What a lovely car. When I was a child I had a Corgi toy 911 in exactly the same colour.

Can鈥檛 go wrong with these two Heuer Carrera by @bazamu

They would have every day of the week covered for me. It would be great if Tag brought out this bracelet for the 39mm reissues. They would sell a ton. Single beads just don't have the same character as the double. I keep looking at newer Autavia's as they look so nice on this bracelet.

Looks a lot like the metallic green of the Taycan.
