I wore this Autavia 741603 GMT in the late 1970s when I was flying around Game Parks in Africa. At takeoff, I would start the sweep hour hands, then stop them at touchdown. Then over a series of flight legs I would have a running total fuel burn in the C-402. Still wear this watch, and it has followed me through my Aviation Career.
I now need a new glass crystal and new bezel (if available) to restore my watch. Any leads to a watchmaker in US or Canada to do this work? Watch, and sweep hands all work, but watch gains a few minutes a day.
The Heuer 12 minute IFR timer probably saved my life when I had to shoot the approach into Nairobi Wilson airport, one night, with partial instrument failure.
Great forum, for those who collect all things Heuer..
