You bought these books in the ‘70s??
Indeed I did sir. Got Hunt's book soon after it was first published after he won the WDC. Can't recall if I got Niki's book before or after, but it was around the same time.

Yeah, but it wasn't easy following the sport back then, especially from the US. The only races televised were the US GP(s) and Monaco. I used to read the newspaper to learn the results. Road & Track magazine would have more in-depth articles covering the races, but they were 2 months behind by the time those articles were published. I had started to follow F1 during the tail end of the '75 season, but it was the '76 season that hooked me for life! I didn't grasp the full impact of that season until reading Hunt's book.

It was via Road & Track magazine where I first saw the Heuer F1 Helmet clocks for sale. I don't remember the price, but I recall it seemed pricey at the time. (Especially for a kid.)

LOL. Back then, I didn't even know Heuer made watches until I saw the advert for the helmet clock in my magazine. Furthermore, since I wasn't really into this hobby until around 2009, I didn't learn that the original Monza celebrated Niki's 1st championship until the 40th Anniversary Monza was released in 2016.

BTW, anyone know if it's better to run these Heuer Helmet clocks or let them sit? I ran mine for about half a day, to confirm it works. But then thought it might be better not to use it, to save it from wear and tear. I have no idea how easy it is to fix the movement if it were to break.

Je dirais même plus - a very nice one… 😁

But since someone just got himself a new Autavia, no need for regrets 😜

That's a nice original case and dial, coming with the bracelet too. You have to be very proud to own this one. Nice to see another Montreal here.
Well done! 👍

OMG.....that is pure delight.

I also see a Skipper and Dato for sale on Vintage Heuer Website without prices. Asked twice for price and no response at all.

Wow! 😲

Also a great bit of promoting here.
Just getting everyone ready for the Skipper coming at W&W.

There were quite a few 2447sn posts prior to the 60th release.
Building the hype machine UP.....

That's so funny, a couple times I've seen something I might be willing to pay dealer premium for and each time I've never gotten a response either.

While waiting to have the bracelet (ultrasound) cleaned and the additional links installed (I was lucky and there were four available - so that should hopefully just work out…), I already wanted to wear it. Hence just throwing it on a vintage leather strap (see also my question in the main forum):
