http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tree&goto=7071634&rid=0#msg_7071634 This is rare.... any takers?
Have to say for me, I'd like it more without the Arcola, not sure what it is but it doesn't look very good. When I googled "Arcola flag" for images it comes up with some... interesting images
I absolutely love the 3647N, and although the logo is rare and original, I don't think I could do it. I am surprised to see the logo adding to the value though.... GLWS
The flag seems to be a mystery, no one appears to know what it refers to. A google search reveals nothing. Any ideas?
Seems this question has been asked before without any answers: http://www.chronocentric.com/forums/heuer/index.cgi?md=read;id=11023 and http://www.chronocentric.com/forums/heuer/index.cgi?md=read;id=13040 No doubt a branded special for something or other, whatever Arcola is. But as the above comments prove, it's not going to add any value to the piece unless it actually means something to somebody, or improves the look. Seems this one does neither of those things. Still - a very nice-looking piece. Just not sure it's worth the amount being asked.
There is a brief mention of it here, in the section: The 1960s Carreras -- Logos and Specials http://onthedash.com/docs/AMHAuction.html also here: http://saacforum.com/index.php?action=printpage;topic=9742.0 It looks like Arcola was a Drag Racing Team
If it is a drag racing team then that actually gives it a modicum of racing provenance. Personally, I'd still prefer it without the logo, though.
Generally, I think the logo watches (Champion/ Volvo/ etc) are more interesting novelties rather than something I would pay more for. I love the look of the Volvo-logo Carrera...but not more than the standard dial. There'll be a really small band of collectors who might pay more for one of these branded watches, but I'm not one of them
