    Thanks Ben.

I agree, in the past I never considered the price. If my limit was £7000 I guess it would be different, but my limit is about top end Aquaracer...

What sparked it was the constant comments that every 44mm Carrera is too big. I mean it's a 44mm Carrera, so it is what it is. All I was getting at was that I never took size into account and maybe I should if everyone else was.

Again, I'm not saying 'everyone else is wrong' I'm saying I'm not doing it how everyone else is doing it so I should change to fit in.

Size has nothing to do with my scores. I might make a comment if a watch is too large for me personally, but it has no bearing on my given score. I gave the WOS & Panda King the same score.

Size has no bearing on my scores, but sometime the price does impact my scores.

Could it not be said that just as 39mm suits a retro re-issue, 44mm suits an orange and black PVD watch? Wouldn't say the new Porsche Carrera look a bit silly in 39mm? Not trying to start a fight, just making an observation.

Agree that the Orange Porsche would look worse in 39mm. It's already too busy for 44m, shrinking it down would only make it look busier. However, I feel this is different. It has more to do with the aesthetics in relation to the proportions of a watch, rather than adding or deducting points simply because of size alone.

I didn't mean in relation to scoring, just you know some watch designs suit big watches some suit small. Like if the Ice King was too big it would look empty... this was why I didn't get on with my first GC there wasn't enough on the dial at 43mm with a slim bezel.

Most of your watches are 38 ish mm, no? That's what watches were in the 90s and they still look great on the wrist.

Mm, well I've sold a lot of the smaller watches now so I would say the average is definitely rising fast. But there's something about the glassbox Carreras... they just look small to me. Maybe it's psychologicial because these are new watches vs 80s/90s watches which I have mentally accepted are smaller. I don't know. All I know is when I bought Jim's watch and had it at home, so not in the boutique environment were most things are big big big, it small seemed super small to me. And when I turned it over and looked at the back it seemed even smaller. I don't think you are going to convince me any more than I am going to convince you guys that 43/44/45mm Carreras are the 'right' size. :D

Just as well they're not 36mm, same as the original Carrera then

    36mm is a ladies watch in 2023...

Apparently the 40mm Aquaracers are ladies watches too...

Why does everything have to be pigeon holed?

EDIT: The 40mm Aquaracers come up on the page for men too btw.

It doesn't. You can wear 27mm watch too if you like. :p

Honestly I would say the 36mm Aquaracer without diamonds (or with if you like) was a Unisex watch, but Jim tried it on and said it looked ridiculous. Even on his childlike wrists...

My wife tried the 36mm AR on when it came out and it looked like an Invicta on her. She would love the teal one but it looks stupid...

This is why I object to the argument that 43mm is too big. We all have a range which suits us and there is no perfect size, it's just that 39mm or perhaps more likely 40mm is the crossover point for the majority. My range is probably 37mm absolute minimum to 44mm, and 45 at a push. That's only an 8mm range, with 40mm in the middle.

But as we know, the 36mm Carrera with it's crazy long lugs looks almost the same size as the 39mm modern Carrera.... so it depends on more than just case size. Same goes for the 44mm Carreras, the lugs are super short, wears like a 42/43 to me.

Before Yago says it, I made an exception for the F1s cos I like them, but I only have 4 left now and probably will go down to 1 or 2 cos realistically they are too small for me

Thinking about it though, why shouldn't big chunky ladies have something pretty to wear that doesn't look stupidly small?

Even chubby girls like pink dials and diamonds...

    Probably.
