Just tried the samples on at the Tag boutique in omotesando in Tokyo. Too small for my wrist @41mm.
They looked nice though. Can’t say I’m a fan of that nylon strap though.
¥464,000 ...around $42000 US

These carbon cases are intriguing, I wonder how tough they are. Scratches and tiny dinks on steel watches add to the patina 😀 I wonder how carbon cases wear over time?

Is the face meant to look pre-aged? As if it had been on board The Seagrass?!

The case is not carbon, it is PVD coated titanium.

$4,200 rather than $42,000, I hope, LOL.

Oops yep $4200

And yes, the Tag assistant told me the only bits that are carbon are the bezel and the face.

Thanks for the pics, notice how the cyclops magnifies the carbon texture...

I struggle to see where £3,250 is going. I paid roughly £1,200 for my 2015 Aquaracer which is identical except the carbon bits, black case and different highlighted blue bits. Even the strap is looks the same (but a different code so I suspect it doesn’t have the blue under rubber - but who sees that anyway).

I like it, but not at a £2k premium. By comparison the Bamford is good value compared to a regular Monaco.

Yes, the camouflage version sells for £2300, with a black case and Calibre 5, so it does rather look like £1000 for a dial and bezel insert...

Yes, it is a bigger premium over the standard model- I wonder if its more that the Monaco is cheaper than expected? If you look back at the Carbon Carrera 1887 prices (price of over US$10k)
The price of the Bamford Carbon Monaco remains at $8100 US; which is the amount I was told a few months ago when the pre-orders started.

The carbon Monaco and carbon carrera have carbon cases, the aquaracer is just a bezel insert and a wafer thin dial.

This feels like a significant premium over the other models.

Agree. What I meant was that the (relatively) low price of the Monaco Carbon makes the new Aquaracer look expensive, because the gap between the two is not that large. If the Bamford Monaco was more like $US10k, then it would make more sense.

Oh, and the dial is not carbon. Only the bezel insert.

Actually, it's a pointless argument really. When you are talking about luxury goods 'cost' of material is not relevant to the cost to the consumer. It doesn't cost Lamborghini £2000 to make some decals, but that's what they will cost to have them fitted to your new Aventador. What you are buying is exclusivity. After all, the retail price difference between quartz and automatic movements (on basis of cost) is completely unjustifiable but we all accept it, because that's the way it is.

So really the question isn't 'does it cost TAG' £1000 to swap out the normal dial for carbon, the question is 'when you look at that product, do you feel that it's worth the extra cost. Does it make you want it more?'. I must say I really like the gold one now that I've seen better pictures of it. Not sure I want it £3300 bad, because that's a lot of money - but, if money was no object then I would probably get one, and I guess these are aimed at people with higher disposable income than I have right now.

When you consider the $10,000 of the 1887 watches, that seems excessively high to me, but then you also have to remember that was before JCB repositioned TAG Heuer as the 'affordable' luxury brand, starting with Carrera Heuer01. As JCB said, if that watch had come out a few years prior it would have been £7,000, so you have to accept that the whole pricing model needs to shift. That said, I'm sure it's a lot more expensive to make a carbon case than a flat dial and bezel insert.

This just gets better and better.... so now it's £1000 for a bezel. 🫨

I've just noticed as well, the publicity shots on TAGs website, the pattern on the dial is the same on all three. Is that because they are CGI rather than actual photos? I thought carbon was supposed to be unique - so maybe David is right?

Aaaaaaand actually looking at the pics higher up this page from the boutique, the dial pattern is the same on all three... looks like David is right!

The carbon is unique on the bezel, but not the dial.

I've double-checked with TAG Heuer re: the dial- definitely "carbon look" not carbon.

That's very disappointing, and they need to change their website. Thanks for clearing that up David.👍

Agreed. A carbon-look dial is a bit of a cop-out.
