The last garagiste F1 team will be sold soon. Hope it stays in good hands, and preserve the name Williams. But unfortunately we have seen Brabham, Tyrrel, Jordan disappear. Only the name McLaren survived. Williams has had some relation with TAG, maybe before Heuer? Don't remember.
Maybe we could consider Sauber (by Peter Sauber) also a garagiste, and it’s still there under the Alfa Romeo umbrella
Jordan is still there. It turned into Midland in 2006, then Spyker, then Force India, and now Racing Point. If you call to their HQ in Northhamptonshire, maybe the girl who answer the call would be the same since the Jordan times. But the concept of garagistes has gone.
Yes, but Jordan Grand Prix “brand” is gone, as Brawn GP, but Sauber still keeps its identity. It has not disappeared: https://www.sauber-group.com/
A sad day for Williams, but they've had several sliding door moments. What if Frank had agreed to run Nakajima back in 1988? Would they have lost Honda power? What if they had given Adrian Newey equity in the business, as he wanted? What about the relationship with BMW, which admittedly turned sour for Sauber...but Williams and BMW should have been a match made in heaven. My read of it is that they've made several bad business calls, and as a result are now right against the wall. I hope they survive, but apart from Latifi Snr, I don't see many likely buyers.
